Why does IMDB make new submissions so difficult?
I have done the best I can to provide the requested info for a new title, „Overlord: „The Dark Warrior“. With all the hoops I had to jump through, it‘s amazing that IMDB gets any new submissions at all (other from the producers). For example, the composer of the theme music „Slaughter by Laughter“ is known as „OxT“. This name doesn‘t meet some arbitrary IMDB standard for names, but it is the only one I could find. Also, there are several people named „Naoyuki Ito“ (the name of the director) already in the IMDB and I don‘t which (if any) to pick for the director of this film, but in this case, I can‘t submit the information for the new title without deleting the director credit entirely. Furthermore, why does IMDB insist on changing the name to „Ito, Naoyuki“? This assumes that the name adheres to the Western convention of putting the family name last. The oriental convention is to put the family name first, so all of the „Naoyuki Ito“s in IMDB are probably misnamed!

Hi rsbrux -
Can you post the 18-digit submission reference number associated with your declined update? Our staff can then take a look for you.
Cheers!

Hi Michelle,
Here is the ref-no: 210723-135654-073000.
I would have liked to add the Japanese title (Overlord: Shikkoku no Senshi) as well as the English title, but couldn't figure out how to do so. Also, I have since changed the English title from "Overlord: The Dark Warrior" to "Overlord Movie 2: The Dark Warrior", in keeping with the English title of "Gekijouban soushuuhen Ôbârôdo: Fushisha no ou".
Thanks for your support.
P.S. I figured out how to add the Japanese title (by checking "To add more data for categories that aren't listed above, select this box"), but had to go through at least a half-dozen more steps to do so, as I was required to reconfirm that it was not an existing title and rejustify the absence of information which IMDB had prevented me from including. To add insult to injury, my previous justification had been deleted. Rather than rewrite it, I simply referred to this thread. Finally, I was forced to label it "alternative title", as "original title" was not available in the dropdown list.
P.P.S. Editing my contribution to add the alternative (Japanese) title as described above has resulted in a duplicate contribution with a new ref. no. 210724-075752-541000. Presumably this was because the original submission had already been declined, but I didn‘t see that at the time I made the update.

Hi rsbrux,
Unfortunately the link you provided with you submission is not suficient to prove the eligibility of this title.
In fact it states that
This implies that the title is not eligible, as it consists of episodes of the series Overlord (2015). Information about these episodes and the cast are crew and already listed on IMDb.
Is there a reason why this should be considered as a separate title?

Dominic, „features“ does not equal „consists“. If this title is in violation of some IMDB rule, then IMDB already contains many titles which are equally in violation.
The most relevant example in this case is the first of the three „Overlord“ movies, "Gekijouban soushuuhen Ôbârôdo: Fushisha no ou", AKA „Overlord Movie 1: The Undead King“, which is based on episodes 1-7 of the same TV series.
P.S. My original question was about the difficulty of submitting new titles in general, not about the suitability of this title in particular. This title is simply an example illustrating some of the barriers to submission.
