Why do some movies not have opening weekend box office results?
Hi peeps,
I am currenty doing some research related to movies, and having access to domestic opening weekend box office results is crucial to my research.
However, it seems that some movies (e.g., Fast Charlie, Our Son) did not release the opening weekend domestic box office results. They are both released by Vertical Entertainment. However, for example, She Came to Me, another movie distributed by Vertical Entertainment, has box office results.
Could anyone let me know why this is the case?
Is there a way to ensure that a future movie release will release domestic box office results? This is quite crucial to our research.
Thanks a bunch in advance.

@chickennoodlesoup IMDb also operates the site Box Office Mojo at https://www.boxofficemojo.com/ and most of our box office information comes via Box Office Mojo. In turn, Box Office Mojo obtains the information from official sources.
In the case of Fast Charlie -> https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt6722400/ we have no details of a US theatrical release so there are no US opening weekend grosses to report -> https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6722400/releaseinfo/
In the case of Our Son -> https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt20833316/ we have no grosses at all, likely due to a limited release, so no grosses were reported anywhere -> https://www.imdb.com/title/tt20833316/releaseinfo/
If a release is not wide enough to be reported and/or the distributors do not provide the information to Box Office Mojo then it will be missing, sorry.
Hope this helps.
