Why can’t I select a language for the movies that are suggested for me?

I am from a small rural area where 97% of the population is Caucasian and I would say about 99.5% of the population’s primary language is English. I, myself, can only speak and understand English. I realize I can be considered “uneducated” by some but I’m in my middle age and really not interested in learning how to speak a new language when everyone I speak to knows and speaks English. I understand that many people may enjoy “foreign language” films and television however I do not. I like to read but hearing a different language spoken while trying to read English subtitles isn’t something I want to have to do to In order to understand what is being said. That said I would like it if I could select English (or other people could select their preferred language) as the main language spoken in any suggested movies or tv shows.

Amanda, I sympathize with you, but my situation is exactly the opposite.. In my European country of residence, it's been possible for a number of years now to choose between the original language and the dubbed version. That's the ideal, of course. I'm a reasonable linguist and hardly ever choose the dubbed version, but I have to agree that both versions should be available.
I've seen films in Switzerland that had subtitles in 4 languages. Now that IS a nightmare!
