Why are YouTube channels listed on IMDB as 'TV Shows'?
I'd be interested to know if this is now a thing or not or if these individuals have created profiles to boost their SEO?Overlord, Geeks & Gamers and Nerdrotic share podcast together a mainly make videos about pop culture and comic book films. Its all pretty toxic stuff, but that aside - isn't this detracting from what IMDB is?

If these people are directors/writers/producers then everyone is also one and every video on the internet should be listed on imdb. Sure youtube became a platform to promote self made films/tv shows and Spielberg would have used it in the 70s, but not everything on there should be classified as such. David Lynch's "Weather Report" and many of his experimental videos have a reason to be on imdb since he is an actual director/writer/producer. Even James Rolfe has made a movie and he actually directs/writes/produces his "Angry Video Game Nerd" TV-show. "Geeks and Gamers" is just a 40 year old man talking what makes him mad in front of a webcam.

I have found out the info I need for my book - minus the guesswork. IMDB details who is and isn't eligible for credit here: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/eligible-credits/GFXKZE9VXLB5CR8M?ref_=helpart_nav_12# Eligible Credits IMDb currently lists credits for these categories of titles: Films (feature and short)TV movies (also known as MOWs, short for "Movie of the Week")Made for Video MoviesTV specialsTV/Web series/mini-seriesOnline videosVideogames/AppsMusic videos (should be submitted as a 'Video' in the format: Band name: Song title i.e. 'Pharrell Williams: Happy'. The submission should also include the Genres 'Music' and 'Short'.)DVD extrasCommercialsThis NEEDS to be publicised because "TV/Web series/mini-series" & "Online videos" basically means ANY online YouTube or another platform creator can make an IMDB profile and list their work. This has blown me away. IMDB has really watered itself down to be a 'free-for-all' - let's fill these pages with YouTubers!

Hello CraigDuncan - As the landscape of entertainment has evolved, IMDb has expanded content coverage and eligibility. As such, online channel titles and credits are now eligible to be listed on the site as long as the content meets our criteria as outlined on the following guide (look for the section "Online Channels"): https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/title-formatting/G56U5ERK7YY47CQB?ref_=helpms_helpart_inline# If you have any additional questions please let us know!
