why are the movies of Jacques Becker and Jean Becker in one list ?

I understand. I saw a list the all the movies with Jean as Director (19 films). ( all other categories were hidden)

Then I clicked on the "show by rating button" and suddenly the "Director" filter was "off"

I got a list with 98 movies.

So the question remains: why does IMDB switch off the "Director" filter ?

Not quite. You're assuming everything is a movie. He was also involved in TV.

He has 16 credits as Movie director, and 3 for TV. Then within the "3", are 32 episodes of Les saintes chéries.

The weird part is 16+34 is 50, but filmosearch shows 51 director jobs. That's because both the series itself, and the 32 episodes are included in the count.

He has 98 credits total on filmosearch because he had other jobs:
