where is the remake info about movie ? nothing in Connections, not in tag.
hi,
today i watched a movie and i discovered it is the remake of another one. Or the other one is the remake.
This both have the same story, same plot, only the country&culture are different, so they are remakes :
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7461272/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14778456/
i searched but i can't find why none contains a link to the other one.
i looked at into Connection menu but there is no link, no "remake" sub-category at all.
As the directors and the writers are differents, i'm wondering even if they know they released the same movie (or picked somewhere the main plot). it is obvious one in the remake of the other.
Both are great, i'm not judging, but i would have know there is a original and a remake !
why imdb hide the "remake" link between movies ? is it pro-member feature ?
On IMDB, is there an official area where the "remake" tag is written ? it should be near the tittle or near the pitch or before the "presentation" area ! it is obvious to inform people !
Also by curiosity, i looked at superman 1978 et 2013 pages.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078346/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0770828/
there is no "remake" info. why ? oh there is a "version of" infos, but it's not a version link between them. One is really the remake of the other, like the 2 movies i pointed before.
So, the "remake info" should be on imdb !
if i was the main developer of imdb webise, i will put a red tag "remake" just in head position under the title! without that info in the beginning, it is like lieing or hiding something to people (my opinion).
Best regards

”Man of Steel” is not really a ”remake” of some previous movie. Just like the new ”Batman” is not a remake of some older Batman movies. These are more like reboots. Of course all Superman (and Batman) movies have some of the same elements, since they’re basically all based on the comics.
( Proper remakes usually share some writers. At least ”original story” or ”original characters”. Maybe ”original screenplay”. But perhaps not everytime. )

It would be unusual for a film to be a remake of a film released only seven months earlier. The French film and the American film seem to be based on true events in each country.
Variety said: "Tonally and narratively, “Angry Annie” is closer in spirit to this year’s Sundance-premiered “Call Jane,” its fictionalized angle on France’s real-life Movement for Liberty of Abortion and Contraception (MLAC) unfolding not dissimilarly to writer-director Phyllis Nagy’s take on America’s comparable Jane Collective."

As I said, a proper remake usually has the writer (writer/story/etc) of the original film also listed in the credits of a remake. For example (both are actually based on the same novel, but US remake is based on the original screenplay also):
Original (Swedish): https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/
US remake: https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1228987/
In some cases two (or more) projects originates from the same novel, so in that case the rule above doesn’t always apply. But then we are not usually talking about ”remakes”. I mean how many films there are that are based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker? Not all are ”remakes” of the first film from 1921 (I believe).

Usamike: Besides what eboy and Peter wrote above, I would note that when a film is actually a remake, that information is supposed to be clearly listed on the Connections page, and it is listed when the information is known to IMDb.
Example:
To Be or Not to Be (1983) is a remake of To Be or Not to Be (1942), and that is specifically stated on the Connections page for both films:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086450/movieconnections/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035446/movieconnections/
under the "Remake of" and "Remade as" headings, respectively.

hi,
thank you to having me inform about the "remake of" section .
but i tell again, that info should be more explicit in the top front page like that (tag or stickers) :
speaking more "globally", there should be a visible tag once there is a reboot/remake/version/adaptation/original other movie.
Also, when a movie is THE original, it should have "gold" tag to let people it have variations "reboot/version/adaptation/remakes"
i still don't understand why this info is hidden and let the visitor dig it...

I agree that info about ”remakes” could be useful (for example, people can perhaps ”find” and watch the original also - or even see the original before the remake), but there are probably limitations of what kind of info IMDb title page can show. It could get ”cluttered” easily.
