Solved

What to Watch is empty

Hello,My section What to Watch is empty and has been for a few days. If I click on Top Picks it says I have no Recently viewed items and to look at some, but I do and still nothing.

I've done what's been suggested when googling, logging out and back in, cleared cache, reload the browser, etc - nothing works. I searched this forum but wasn't able to find a thread with my issue. So has anyone experienced this and if so, how did you solve it? ThanksStockhomSyndrome

Hello @Jolene ,

Thank you for looking into my issue. I use Firefox, but have tried in Brave and Edge as well - still the same.

Hello Jolene,

I do not use the app, only on my laptop; Lenovo using windows 11. It has been working since I bought it and have not made any updates or added extensions lately .

Thank you

I’m having the exact same issue. I first noticed it yesterday morning. It’s still ongoing. My What To Watch - Top Pick section is completely empty. It suggests rate some items to generate recommendations. I check my “Your Ratings” page and I still have all my ratings. This affects the desktop site and mobile app.

Yeah, I'm in the habit of checking the What To Watch -> Top Picks page every morning, so it's absence is definitely felt. I also noticed my watchlist is empty. I don't really use it, so it's not a critical issue for me personally. I do know that I had a few things on there though, and they are now missing.

My watch list is still intact. It's just the suggestions that is gone, and like you that is a feature I really like and always check every time I visit imdb so I miss it too.

Hello StockholmSyndrome and lishremix,

Thank you for the information.

Please attach the following information about your devices so we can investigate further:

• Browser (example: Firefox):

• Browser Version

• Screenshot/video of the What to watch section

• Specific URL(s) affected:

• Do you have an ad blocker enabled?:

Desktop (Windows 10/11)

  • Browser: Chrome 143.0.7499.193 & Firefox 146.0.1
  • IMDB homepage (Top Picks section disappears as page loads). also https://www.imdb.com/what-to-watch/top-picks/
  • I do have an adblocker installed on Chrome. Issue is also present when disabled. No adblocker installed in Firefox.

Mobile (iOS 26.1)

  • IMDb App version 16.2.3
  • Top Picks is only viewable from the homepage in the app, to my knowledge. The section exists, but rather that displaying personalized picks, it displays generic "popular" lists.
  • No mobile adblocker installed.

An additional wrinkle, I have 3 computers available to me at home. I just tried on all 3. Interestingly enough, on my work computer, it does work. It's only my personal computers and phone that are not working. They are all on the same network.

Here are some screenshots:

@Jolene I did reply with all the requested info and screenshots, but for some reason the post says private. I can’t figure out how to change that. Let me know if you don’t see the response.

Hello @Jolene I did turn off adblocks but it made no difference. But last night (swedish time) my What to watch and Top picks were visible again. I noticed that my viewing history had been wiped at the same time but it doesn't matter. So my issue has been solved.Thank youStockholm Syndrome

@Jolene I just checked again this morning and it looks like I can now access my What to Watch - Top Picks on all 3 of my computers and mobile. Not sure what the problem was, but if you did anything to push it along, thank you!

The issue just came back for me this morning. The symptoms are slightly different. Test on 3 PCs and my phone. On my primary PC and my phone, I get no results, just as I have before. On my two other PCs, I do get results, but interestingly they are different sets of results. I just tried a few refreshes, and each PC consistently reloads the same sets of results. That's not necessarily a problem, just a difference that I noticed. When I have tested in the past, the results seems to be consistent across all machines where I loaded the What to Watch - Top Picks page.

Another wrinkle. I signed out and signed back in on the two machines where I was getting results, and now both of those machines are not returning results as well. So the different sets that were appearing before must have been cached.

Thanks for the problem report. Nobody else is reporting similar problems so this is likely to be a local problem, sorry.  It sounds like you have tried many of the ideas in https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/common-issues/why-is-imdb-displaying-differently-on-my-browser/GF2ZAR69V859XLHF but please take a look anyway.

One reason for an empty “What to Watch” section can be an excessively large number of ratings. Do you mind sharing how many titles you have rated?

@Col_Needham I do rate pretty much everything I watch on IMDB, so I’ve amassed a lot over the years. I’m currently sitting at 7,371 ratings. Maybe that is factoring in.

I’ll go through the article and see if I can find anything else to test. Thank you for your response.
