What is included in the commercial use of imdb data?
I read on your website, in your Conditions of Use, that all data provided through IMDb Services can be used for non-commercial purposes, and as it seemed to me, there was an emphasis on the data. That is the correct example of commercial use of data in my understanding would be implementation of paid analogue, which would internally use data from IMDb API, i.e. making money from your data. Why I ask: I and a group of students are developing a free movie guessing application as a part of an educational project, and a mobile application was planned as a result of the project (web application is still under discussion). We planned to use the open API of IMDb to get information about movies, but if at the end of the project we will put our application to download sites, will it suddenly become a commercial use of IMDb data? What if we add ads to it?

Hi @BroadSky -
As you aim to publish an app, regardless of whether it is monetized with ads etc, this would be deemed as commercial use. We do have commercial licenses that can be found on our IMDb Developer page. These datasets include more detailed data, and can power improved experiences.
I hope this helps!
