What is going on with the Cast list manager(s), anyway?

Since January, I have been doing many audits of on-screen credits (three or four a week), which is very time-consuming and often tedious.  Every addition, detention and correction (ALL from on-screen credits) have been accepted EXCEPT for the Cast section.  What is going on?

I am beginning to think that this activity is just not worth my time and effort IF IMDb is not going to accept such submissions.  ALL -- I emphasize, ALL -- such submissions come from on-screen credits, and ALL -- I emphasize, ALL -- are easily verifiable if one just looks at the on-screen credits.

I have absolutely no reason to submit incorrect info to IMDb.  Why?  Why is IMDb not accepting such submissions?  It is getting very frustrating.

And, yes, I have resubmitted in some instances.  And, yes I have provided screen shots on one.  BUT... IMDb's inability to process such submissions just lead me to believe that IMDb DOES NOT WANT correct and accurate information when it comes to Cast listings.  Very annoying, indeed.

I am beginning to think that I should just stop such submissions.  What is going on, anyway?

Hi bradley_kent -

I understand your frustration and I'm terribly sorry to hear of the continuous declined cast submissions you've experienced throughout this past year.  We truly appreciate your efforts to maintain credit accuracy, as IMDb wouldn't be what it is today without dedicated contributors such as yourself.

Can you post some of the 18-digit submission reference numbers associated with your recently declined cast submissions?  I can then investigate this issue further.

And one where I submitted a screen share:

211008-201955-249000

There are others.

One of these is even the title character.  Granted, an animal, but STILL the title character.

I have no problems:

  • Adding cast
  • Adding crew
  • Correcting character names
  • Correcting job titles
  • Correcting attributes

I do occasionally have problems however...

  • Replacing cast/crew members with someone else of the same name
  • Deleting people who have been added incorrectly

Although I did have a problem trying to correct 1 job title recently as it was declined 5+ times before I finally got it to go through, and I'm currently having a problem trying to add an uncredited attribute to someone listed as an extra, with no character name.

I'm not sure if uncredited attributes are allowed on characters listed as "extra"

Plus I'm not even sure if the uncredited extra is in the short anyway, as I don't know who he is. Therefore I couldn't give him a character name even if I wanted to.

There's 5 people credited with the word "extra" but he isn't one of them, so if the uncredited attribute isn't allowed for unnamed extras, then I'll just have to delete his uncredited credit.

Any response?  Any explanation?

This problem continues, with NO response. Why?

All submissions of deletions, additions and corrections are accepted EXCEPT for the Cast section.  (A few Cast submissions do get inconsistently accepted.)  And ALL of my submissions come from audits of ON-SCREEN CEDITS!  ALL can be verified!

When I lived in Bath as a Fulbright exchange teacher, my British students had a surprise American Thanksgiving party for me.  I think of them every year on this day.

I only wish that IMDb's British staff could get their act together, and respond with such kindness.
