In Progress

What is going on with the Cast list manager(s), anyway?

Since January, I have been doing many audits of on-screen credits (three or four a week), which is very time-consuming and often tedious.  Every addition, detention and correction (ALL from on-screen credits) have been accepted EXCEPT for the Cast section.  What is going on?

I am beginning to think that this activity is just not worth my time and effort IF IMDb is not going to accept such submissions.  ALL -- I emphasize, ALL -- such submissions come from on-screen credits, and ALL -- I emphasize, ALL -- are easily verifiable if one just looks at the on-screen credits.

I have absolutely no reason to submit incorrect info to IMDb.  Why?  Why is IMDb not accepting such submissions?  It is getting very frustrating.

And, yes, I have resubmitted in some instances.  And, yes I have provided screen shots on one.  BUT... IMDb's inability to process such submissions just lead me to believe that IMDb DOES NOT WANT correct and accurate information when it comes to Cast listings.  Very annoying, indeed.

I am beginning to think that I should just stop such submissions.  What is going on, anyway?

Hi bradley_kent -

I understand your frustration and I'm terribly sorry to hear of the continuous declined cast submissions you've experienced throughout this past year.  We truly appreciate your efforts to maintain credit accuracy, as IMDb wouldn't be what it is today without dedicated contributors such as yourself.

Can you post some of the 18-digit submission reference numbers associated with your recently declined cast submissions?  I can then investigate this issue further.

And one where I submitted a screen share:

There are others.

One of these is even the title character.  Granted, an animal, but STILL the title character.

Any response?  Any explanation?

This problem continues, with NO response. Why?

All submissions of deletions, additions and corrections are accepted EXCEPT for the Cast section.  (A few Cast submissions do get inconsistently accepted.)  And ALL of my submissions come from audits of ON-SCREEN CEDITS!  ALL can be verified!

When I lived in Bath as a Fulbright exchange teacher, my British students had a surprise American Thanksgiving party for me.  I think of them every year on this day.

I only wish that IMDb's British staff could get their act together, and respond with such kindness.

Why has there been no action on this?  All the above should be reprocessed so the cast listings reflect what is ACTUALLY ON SCREEN IN THE END CREDITS!

Will this EVER get a response?

Bump.  What happened to the promised investigation?

Also,  there gave been similar recent admissions that HAVE been accepted.  Is this just inconsistency, or wishy-washyness?

@bradley_kent  Sorry about the delay here.  This has been re-flagged for investigation (see this related post too) as it is related to staff training.

This is so inconsistent.  Apparently, IMDb thinks more of pig-actors who are credited on-screen than it does of dancers, musicians and background actors/extras who also have on-screen credits.  After this original posting, I submitted the two pigs who are credited on screen for Pig (2001), and THEY were accepted!  ?????

Any action on this, or must we wait years and years.
