WGA locked writing credits need correcting: Death Race (2008) [2nd try]
Since my previous post has been closed (hence now unsearchable), and taking into consideration...
... the on-screen titles,
... Adrian's comment about Ib Melchior's credit,
... a recent flexibility to include the known source material in the attribute despite not being listed on screen (confirmed by Michelle),
... page rendering limitations that, without good reason, hide stored information in certain cases¹,
... and the "infortunate" modifications made by IMDb the first time I reported this issue.
I again propose that the writing credits of Death Race (2008) be updated as follows:
- Anderson, Paul W.S. ... (screen story by) ........................................... 1,1,1
- Anderson, Paul W.S. ... (screenplay by) ............................................. 2,1,1
- Thom, Robert (I) ...... (based on the screenplay by: 1975 film "Death Race 2000") ... 3,1,1
- Griffith, Charles B. .. (based on the screenplay by: 1975 film
"Death Race 2000") (as Charles Griffith) .. 3,2,1
- Melchior, Ib .......... (based on the story by: 1975 film "Death Race 2000") ........ 4,1,1
Thank you!
¹This morning I came across the latest example: The Towering Inferno (1974).
I've just submitted update #231008-102339-532000 to match the credits to what the titles state. If approved, this would solve the "hidden-novel-title issue" in this case.
Edited to add:
By the way, counting only the occupations novel, play, book and poem (all of which hide whatever appears after in quotation marks), there are around 35,000 credits (out of 140,000, ~25%) affected, i.e. the name of the novel, play, book or poem isn't displayed in their respective title pages.
The breakdown of around 32,000 titles for which information is stored but not currently displayed is as follows:
- Films: ~11900 titles.
- Made for video: ~200 titles.
- Made for TV: ~3900 titles.
- Series:
- Parent level: ~400 titles.
- Episodes: ~15000 titles.
- Videogames: ~20 titles.

Hi @ljdoncel -
I reviewed this issue again, and can confirm that the credit correction suggestions you made are valid and the changes should be live on the site shortly.
Cheers!
