Weird glitch? Cast members not showing in the correct order

EDIT: This thread is not yet "solved". Please do not skim-read this message and post a response explaining how to correct order numbers; that is not the issue here!

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13045876/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_ql_cl

The order number attached to the cast list are not reflected on this "Cast & Crew" page, which is showing them in a different order to the numbers seen on the update form. (Perhaps it's being ordered by Starmeter rating, given that Idris Elba is at the top?)

the order numbers will not affect the display of credits until a significant percentage of the credited cast has order numbers.

Currently, only 4 out of 26 have order numbers, so that's why it's not displayed.

@mbmb Interesting - I've seen other titles with an "insignificant percentage" of ordered credits before, but they've always seemed to take those order numbers into account; I think this is the first time I've seen a title where it hasn't done that.

For example:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2934476/fullcredits/

Only 1 out of 106 cast credits has an order number, but they are still "ordered" at the top.

@tom_wake I don't know if it's documented anywhere but it could be about all cast entries being "Self" in that title. I remember seeing such titles too now you said it, and all examples I remember had only Self credits in cast list. So if I had to guess, that may be the reason. Maybe staff can shed a light.

@mbmb Interesting theory, but these credits are all Self as well... hopefully a staff member will chime, but it seems unlikely whilst this thread has been incorrectly marked as "solved"

@tom_wake

Most, but not all the credits in the title you asked about are self credits.

The guideline quoted by mbmb does likely answer the question, even if the guideline doesn't cover all details or exceptions. Similar questions have been answered similarly before, see for instance Michelle's reply here.

If you want a post not to be mark Solved, it can usually be done by posting a new comment in the thread (not a reply to another reply).

Hello tom_wake,

Credits order numbers can be corrected, in case you need detailed instructions/information, I encourage you to follow our Credit Order help guide.

@Fran Hi Fran,

As explained in my original post, these credits already have the correct order numbers attached, so there is nothing to correct; the issue is that they are not displaying in this order.

@Fran Could you please un-tag this thread as being "solved"? Many thanks

Hi @tom_wake -

As mbmb and Peter_pbn mentioned in their comments, the assigned credit order will typically only go into effect once at least 30% of the cast has order numbers assigned, so in this instance, I would encourage you to add order numbers to the remaining cast (or at least 30%) for the display to reflect the credit order numbers.

With that being said, the inconsistency you observed on the TV Movie "The 100 Greatest Films" is interesting, I have filed a ticket for the appropriate team to review the display logic and clarify if there are specific rule differences as per title/credit type, or confirm if this is a bug.  As soon as I have an update I will relay that information here.

Cheers!

Hi @Michelle

It's not that "100 Greatest Films" is an exception to the rule - almost every title I've seen in my 18 years of contributions has followed the same pattern (whether the credits are all "Self", acting, or a mixture of the two), with the episode in my original post being the only exception that I've ever seen.
