Weighted average problem

How can I dropped 4.8 from 8.1 rating just for receiving 2 1 star votes. And whenever I receive 10 stars I remained the same. My films name is "Qlub Imwegggha" There must be a huge mistake dtopping my rating from 8 1 to 4.8. Cant understand. Arithmetic is 9.3 and yet weighted average is 4.8 / 10. Please do seek on this problem as it is frustrated to me. When I had 288 voters my rating was 8.1, now I have 2 more voters voted 1 star and I had such a big huge drop. Its unfair. At least it should be 8.0. Thanks and hope this will be treated with big responsibility please. Thank you Charles Meli film producer.

The ratings on your film show clear signs of being manipulated.

The likely reason why the weighted average on your film is so much lower than the arithmetic mean is because IMDb is discounting for vote manipulation (which IMDb says it does, but sometimes fails to follow through on that).

Hi charles_meli_9h3wfx2ae074g -

IMDb does not use the arithmetic mean when calculating the ratings, although the raw mean and median are shown under the detailed vote breakdown graph on the ratings pages. Instead, we use a weighted average scheme. This explains why there's often a discrepancy between the user rating displayed on a film's title page and the arithmetic mean of all the votes cast for that film.

For more information about how a rating is calculated I encourage you to review our Ratings FAQ.

Here is one where just the opposite happened.  A massive number of 1s, many before the film even got released.  Annie Live! had the same issue.

In this case, you can see from the user reviews that people are outraged at characters that were originally white were being played by black people.  I'm sure you've heard about the new Disney live-action The Little Mermaid.  That one at least has user ratings disabled for now since it doesn't get released for another week.
