Hi, Bradley. Long time, no see. It wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience to you to please share here a screenshot of the message, I do so hope. If so, then do you know whether or not the message is being generated by your Web browser or the IMDb website itself? The difference means a lot, in troubleshooting a mystery like this.
It says: Our website is currently unavailable while we make some improvements to our service. We’ll be open for business again soon, please come back shortly to try again. Thank you for your patience.
@bradley_kent Thanks for the problem report. Is this while browsing on www.imdb.com or while contributing data on contribute.imdb.com? If the latter, this can happen if you have too many complex contributions on-going in multiple browser tabs? Please let us know as it will aid in tracking this down.
My genre contributions are being blocked from processing, so that may be contributing to the problem. Sure wish that block would be removed, since at least 99% of my genre contributions are factual and accurate, and just linger in my Update History. Over 1200 now.
@bradley_kent Thanks for confirming that the issue is on the contribute.imdb.com site (which is where your history lives too). We will pass this along to the appropriate team as it is not supposed to happen when the site is accessed via a real person. The fundamental issue is that the page is being loaded too often and the message you are seeing needs to be more clear on this point. It is a defence against robotic attacks and your volumes are high enough to be mistaken for robot activity, sorry.
The genre issue is separate and not related to this problem at all.
Now, about the genre problem. I acknowledge that it is unrelated to this situation, but how do I get my accumulating genre contributions correctly processed?
My only goal, as I have oft stated, is to help make IMDb more accurate than it already is.
P.S. Absolutely love the Advance Title Search. It’s brilliant.
