Voting anomaly / Suspicious, solitary, 1-star rating spike on independent film
Movie Name: Crooked Miles
I am requesting a backend data review for a targeted voting anomaly on our new independent horror film. The movie has been released for 11 days and currently has 28 total votes. However, within a single 36 hour period, the page received an isolated spike of (8) 1-star ratings.
This is a distinct data irregularity because:
- These 8 votes are the only 1-star ratings the title has received since launch - none before this 36 hour period / none since
- None of these 8 views left a written review
Because our total vote count is small, this sudden 36-hour spike makes up nearly 29% of our score distribution. While I understand the weighted average system is designed to handle outliers, our average has nonetheless dropped as a result of these votes. Additionally, just the appearance of these 1-star votes as such a heavy percentage of our total votes is damaging in itself.
Could an editor please look at the backend data for the period we received those 1-star votes to determine if they are legitimate?
Thank you for any assistance.
Best Regards,
Rob Rotondo

ADDENDUM TO ABOVE POST
One other note regarding this apparent voting anomaly on "Crooked Miles":
We have (14) star ratings of 4 or less. (11) or (12) of those came in that same 36-hour period.
This is not 100% like the 1-star ratings, and may be a coincidental concentration, but it seems odd when considered together with the 1-stars. There have been 9 1/2 other days with no such concentration of low ratings.
Thank you again.
