Video rating showing incorrect rating when a re-rating is present

When a film has multiple ratings, due to cuts or re-ratings, IMDb can sometimes show the wrong rating.

Example film where this issue occurs: Jailhouse Rock (1957) [tt0050556]

The Swedish rating at the top says "15", but when looking in Parents Guide, the Swedish rating is listed as: "Sweden:15 (original rating) | Sweden:11 (1979, re-rating)"

Re-ratings often come in the format of "(re-rating) (YYYY)" where YYYY is the year, so if one of the ratings has this attribute, IMDb should prioritise the re-rating with the highest year. So in the example above, since 11 is marked as "(re-rating)", it should be shown instead of 15.

Other examples of this issue: The Sound of Music (1965) [tt0059742], Beetle Juice (1988) [tt0094721]

@liggliluff  Thanks for the suggestion, however, the best option here is to simply ensure that the latest certificate is listed on IMDb without any attribute.  All of the various IMDb interfaces are already programmed to display this one by default, and it avoids the need for complicated logic at display time.  The original rating can be tagged with the attribute “(original rating)” and if there’s anything specifically interesting in the history of the rating / re-rating this can always be stored as a trivia item.

The guide at https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/certificates/GU757M8ZJ9ZPXB39 is unclear on this point so we will open a ticket to have it clarified.

@Col_Needham By not including an attribute, you lose information. If it says "Sweden:15 (original rating) | Sweden:11" it can confuse users of why the rating 11 is there.

Even if the user understands that since 15 has the attribute "original rating" and 11 stands alone, that 11 is the new rating, the information of when it was re-rated is lost.

Since it's so common on IMDb that re-ratings are tagged "(re-rating) (YYYY)" (or just "(re-rating)"), I highly suggest that this should be an established standard, and that the rating on the top of the page takes this into account.
