USSR vs. Russia

DOB: October 17, 1980

POB: "Chelyabinsk, Chelyabinskaya obast, Russia"

Wikipedia - Chelyabinsk

The correction requires a URL or link to the upload site in the explanation. This simple data entry error is not conducive to linking to any particular site. The DOB did not need to be changed, only the POB.

This all has to do with the DOB. In 1980, the POB was still the USSR. It did not become Russia until 25 December 1991.

Current POB: "Chelyabinsk, Chelyabinskaya obast, Russia"

Actual POB: "Chelyabinsk, Chelyabinsk Oblast, RSFSR, USSR [now Russia]"

The current POB has an incorrect region name, and the word for the administrative region is Oblast, not obast. This word should also be capitalized.  Chelyabinskaya is the Romanized version of Chelyabinsk, which is the proper word. This Romanized version only appears within the body of Wikipedia under the Chelyabinsk, explaining what I just relayed. Otherwise, Chelyabinsk is the only name used in conjunction with the Oblast.

The Actual or correct POB can be found in the pull-down list formatted correctly.

If this could have been accomplished with the correct item form, I am open to suggestions. This is, however, well-researched but does not meet the requirements for submission.
