Undo the merge of titles

Yesterday I requested a merge of two titles. The two had almost identical info. After submitting the merge-request, I actually found out there were indeed two different movies with the same title from the same year from the same production company with the same plot (it was 1903......). My mistake, so I tried to correct it. I couldn't find a way to delete the request, so I edited it and resubmitted it. Unfortunately the two titles have been merged. I don't see a way to respond to it, so I'm asking here. Is there a way to undo the merge? Where should I request it? Or should I just re-add that other title?

Hi joachim -

I can confirm that the title pages have been merged, unfortunately, there is no easy way to systematically un-merge/restore the original page, instead a new title page will need to be created and our staff can then move the applicable data.

Can you confirm what specific information on the existing title page will need to be moved?

@Michelle

These are the two versions of the short:

https://www.loc.gov/item/2011600511/

https://www.loc.gov/item/2011600512/

At the moment I can't even tell which of the two versions the IMDb-page matches, because the releasedate is in between the dates which are shown at LoC and the plot is so general that it matches both pages.

I would suggest changing the current page to the first page of LoC and creating a new page from the second page. Is there anything I can/should do?

Hi joachim -

Thanks for the additional details.  I was able to  locate the original title submission and ave split the titles, the changes should be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!

@Michelle

They are live. A shame the merge couldn't be undone. Now the votes of the second title are lost and it has in fact become a new page. Anyway, glad it's back.

I submitted updates to both to add the longer plot summary from LoC. That way it's easier to distinguish the two movies.

Thanks for your help.
