Unable to edit the plot outline for Hopper/Welles (2020)

I noticed that plot outline for documentary Hopper/Welles (2020) lacks proper hyperlinks, so I wanted to add them, but was unable to for very odd reasons.

In short, situation seems to be like that: plot outline was seemingly added through title scorecard, which eabled it to bypass 241 character limit, so now it can't be corrected since that's when system notices it has more than needed and blocks the edit.

Honestly puzzled by overall situation and not sure whether there's any way around it.

Hi Nikolay -

As Peter mentioned above, the reason you are seeing the error is because the additional hyperlinking characters caused the Plot Outline to exceed the 239 character limit.

I have now added the hyperlinks for you, unfortunately, in these cases, staff will need to make the updates directly.

Cheers!

I think the explanation is a bit simpler: the existing outline is not too long, but your version becomes too long because the link code is counted as characters.

@Peter_pbn Thanks for explanation. I considered that too, but I always thought that system considers [link=] format as its own symbols... Apparently that's not the case, because code-wise with two names and a title replaced with such codes it should be shorter, but the problem arises anyhow.

And when the code translates to a title or name that is longer, the resultant plot outline winds up being truncated and so indicated with a trailing ellipsis.

I'm not sure what you mean. [link=nm0000454] is 16 characters long. "Dennis Hopper" is 13 characters long.

In total, the outline without links was 228 characters, the version with link code in the update form is 241 characters, and the displayed version is 235 characters because of the year in parenthesis after the title link.

Regarding Jeorj's point, this outline displays fine in the old title page, but is truncated in the new title page. Perhaps this qualifies as a bug, or perhaps it's not such a good idea to bypass the form checks like this.

Just to note, I had Title Reference View in mind.
