Unable to add uncredited cast members without roles, even with explanation

I am trying to add uncredited cast members to „Anne Bäbi Jowäger (1978)“. These cast members were credited on screen in one or both of the 1960s movies which contributed to the 1978 movie, but the credits of the original movies did not name the roles of the players and the players in question are not credited on screen in the 1978 movie. The players I am trying to add are also listed under further roles in the „Extras“ section of the DVD containing the 1978 movie, but again without character names. IMDB categorically rejects my attempts to submit these cast members with the message, „You must provide a character name/description for uncredited cast members.“, even when I try to provide an explanation. How can these cast members be included, short of (incorrectly) omitting the (uncredited) attribute?

Hi rsbrux-

Concerning these credits, you'll need to include either the name the character was referred to on screen or if the character name was not referenced you'll need to include a brief description within the character field in the submission form.

For example: Postal worker, crying child, woman walking dog

I encourage you to resubmit these credits with the above formatting of the characters field and our editors would take a look.

Thanks for the advice, but I‘m afraid you don‘t understand the problem:

The players in question are uncredited in the 1987 Director‘s Cut, but they *are* credited in the original films from the early 1960s.
The original 1960s films did not include character names in the credits.
I am not willing to watch the 2 hour film again attentively enough to do as you ask.
Even if I were, I would be unable to identify the players in question. I have only lived in Switzerland for 30 years and can only recognize a few of the most prominent players with the longest careers from the 1960s. In this film, I was only able to recognize one, Ruedi Walter.

Under these circumstances, wouldn‘t it be better to omit the (uncredited) attribute than to omit these players from the cast listing completely?
