TV shows broadcast across midnight

Just checking - when a TV programme that runs for several hours long is broadcast just before midnight (say, 23:45) and the vast majority, perhaps even 7 or 8 hours, is broadcast the following morning, presumably we still record the pre-midnight date as the release date?

Tom: Yes, that is my understanding. Use the pre-midnight date if the show starts before midnight, no matter how long it goes on after midnight.
