TSV files not convenient to determine reliably Region of origin, is there a better way?

Taking "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain" ( IMDb ) as an example (French movie), the basics and akas files give

The basics gives the original title, but not region or language information.

The akas gives a list of titles with region / language, but how do you determine which region it is originally from?

Where the isOrigTitle bit is 1 no region or language is given on that line (only \Ns).

The only way seems to compare the basics title with the akas title to confirm the original region, but in this case there are conflicts (here NL and FR (& IN) for instance).

Am I missing something, or the region/language of origin cannot be reliably determined?

You are not missing anything, sorry.  IMDb does not explicitly store the region nor the language of the original titles in our systems so we do not have this data to publish.  The reasons are historical and complicated.

Hope this helps.

Yes, good point, as the information could be indeterminate, in the cases of movies publicly screened for the very first time multiple countries, within the same twelve-hour span of time, meaning multiple countries of origin. Much of the time, a thing like "country of origin" has to be inferred from (1) the location corresponding to the earliest released date, (2) the location of the base of operations of production company and (3) the location corresponding to the languages in which the title and credits are written/printed; yet even still, it could be indeed constitute more than one origin country and more than one original language, as in the case of "international" movies/shows.
