Trevor (1994)

In #220429-032411-796000 I tried to add a new title for a short introduction by Ellen DeGeneres to HBO's 1998 airing of the short film Trevor from 1994.

Instead my submission was merged with the existing listing for the short film, which is now listed as Ellen DeGeneres Presents Trevor (1998) (TV)

It should be corrected back to Trevor (1994) as soon as possible. I have submitted #220430-080601-162000 to this end. (Edit: This is done, thanks.)

I will give up on listing the introduction as a separate title, but my goal with it was to avoid the DeGeneres introduction being mixed up with the original film.

Peter: It looks like this has already been fixed.

I'm not sure that an introduction would necessarily warrant a separate title listing of its own. Instead, I suggest listing the introduction in the "Other Works" section of Ellen DeGeneres's page, and also mentioning it in the "Alternate Versions" section for Trevor.

Hi Peter_pbn -

Thanks for reporting.  I'm not aware of our current guidelines on the standalone eligibility for title introductions such as this.  I have reached out to our editors to review and confirm if these titles are eligible to be listed, once I have confirmation I will post the details here.

Cheers!

Hi @Peter_pbn -

I'm just following up here to confirm that these type of introductions are not eligible for a standalone title listing on the site.

@Michelle

That's fine, but there was still no reason to merge my submission with the existing short film title. If the same happens with other title submissions it's a source of errors.

Also, I'm not sure what "these type of introductions" means.

I have to think that introductions are eligible if they are for example DVD extras, which are eligible as standalone titles.

Hi @Peter_pbn -

My apologies for the delayed response.  I agree that a merge was the incorrect action and I have flagged that to the appropriate team.

By phrasing - "these type of introductions", I meant to imply that an introduction to a title is ineligible to be listed as a standalone title.  I can't point to  many examples, though I recall a series from the 80's, "Faerie Tale Theater", where prior to each episode Shelley Duvall introduced the series and the tale being told.  In this same instance, we would not allow her introduction to be listed as a standalone title on the site.

I hope this helps clarify.
