Title for deletion -- Peter Pan, Land of Forever (1973)

There is a title in the database whose data don't make any sense: Peter Pan, Land of Forever (1973) at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7409674/

I came across this title while searching for titles which list Vatican City as a production country. To my knowledge, there are no "secular" film production companies in Vatican City, and any film which lists Vatican City as a production country should probably be directly relevant to the Catholic Church, which Peter Pan, Land of Forever would not be.

In fact, this film is supposedly a co-production among United States, Brazil, Soviet Union, Vatican, and West Germany. The number of co-productions between the USA and Soviet Union in the 1970s is so low, you can count them all on your fingers (The Blue Bird (1976) is the most famous example), but the number of co-productions between the Soviet Union and Vatican City is most likely to be zero. Also, there is only one production company listed, whereas a genuine co-production would normally have production companies from more than one country.

Although this film was supposedly released in 1973, its cast includes Ben Foster (I) (born 1980) and Ava Kolker (born 2006), among other people who would have been too young to appear in the film.

The budget of $40 million would have made it probably the most expensive movie ever made as of 1973.

The film claims three "filming locations" for this animated film: Moscow, Russia; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; and São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil (the latter with the description "Opening credits; The camera zoom upward at the penthouse suite where Steve watches the beaches, then turns to face the viewer as the camera zoom slightly at him"), none of which is identified as an animation studio. Whoever submitted these locations seems to have been under the impression that this animated film was filmed on location.

The two official sites listed, which are both the same site, are for DreamTeller Animation Studio (https://dreamtellerstudio.com/). DreamTeller has a page about this film on their website, which begins:

The “The Land of Forever”(LOF) is the work of creative genius Francis Taylor. Francis is an artist, animator, and storyteller.

He has effectively created the third installment of the Peter Pan story. Dream Teller Studios LLC. is in development of a full-length CGI animated production of the story he has created with the help of writer Eugene Selassie.

In other words:

  1. The production company says that the film is CGI animation, which would be impossible for a 1973 feature film (or for a Soviet feature film; the Soviet Union dissolved four years before Toy Story, the first computer-animated film, was released in 1995).
  2. The production company says that the title includes the word "The" (Peter Pan: The Land of Forever), while the word "The" is omitted from the title in IMDb.
  3. And, most important, the production company says that the film is "in development", not released 52 years ago.

While this film may possibly be eligible for listing in IMDb as an in-development title, most of the data that was submitted for this film is nonsense. I recommend that this entry be deleted in its entirety and that the submitter be warned that they have severely damaged their credibility.

If someone with a stronger grasp on reality wants to re-submit the title as an in-development title, they should be allowed to do so.
