The Unicode character at code point

Here we are, 2018.

I've read this article before trying to add a new title, which claims:

We use the original title of a movie/show in its original language as it appears on screen in the opening credits.

Ok.

Then I try to add 'Главный конструктор'. And I get the error from the title of this post. In 2018 when UTF is widely supported *sigh*

Then, I try to copy-paste cp1251, KOI8-R.

Then, I google and find some posts from 2016 (I, II).

Then, I decide to 'send feedback' (feedback is important, yeah?) - it is better than doing nothing. And I see:

Oh, wow.

I'm not sure if this movie is available in English, there is no article in wikipedia about this title, you know. But I see the director in the database.
So, I am not sure that I can find the correct translation/translate the title correctly to specify russian title as alternative. And why should I use unoriginal title in its unoriginal language?

It's frustrating!

I'm okay with the absence of many non-English movies.
I'm okay with sites which don't support utf-encodings.

But I'm not okay with inability to do exactly what I supposed to do. I understand that one movie is not a good reason to rewrite some part of your backend. I even understand, that this post means nothing, cause I am not an active user, etc.

BUT!

I tried just a simple action for the first time and didn't succeed. Easy things should be easy, and hard things should be possible.
