The 1933 page for the Academy Awards

Unlike for all other years, the Academy Awards page for the year 1933 is empty or does not exist. Is there a reason for this?

I agree it shows nothing, and when you edit the page, it shows nothing behind the curtain either.

Looking at the official Academy website,

https://awardsdatabase.oscars.org/

you see that 1933 was a transition year. Notice the change in the year selection on their query page:

If you look at the website for the Academy Awards, you will see that there was no award ceremony in 1933. (It looks like they changed the time interval for when pictures were eligible.

The 5th Annual Awards Ceremony was held Friday November 18, 1932 for films released between August 1, 1931 and July 31, 1932.

The 6th Annual  Awards Ceremony was held Friday March 16, 1934 for films released between August 1, 1932 and December 31, 1933.

The 7th Annual Award Ceremony was held Wednesday February 27, 1935 for films released in 1934.

@adrian Thanks ever so much! That explains it perfectly. So the link on the right hand side for 1933 will be taken out considering it leads to nothing?

@Wobblesocks

I cannot answer that question. Listing the first few award ceremonies by years is a bit misleading as they covered parts of two years. They probably need the first ones listed as in the dropdown that bderoes shows above.

The links should, by any logic, should represent the year that each batch of awards was presented. Thus, if there was no ceremony in 1933, then there should be no link for it.

Thank you for flagging this.

The blank event page has now been removed.
