The 1% Club As Two Shows

Just want to make sure I'm not crazy and doing something out of line: according to Fox, The 1% Club aired as two separate series, the new one starting over when Joel McHale replaced Patton Oswalt as host.  That is to say, Fox thinks that the entire show aired for one season with Patton Oswalt, and then started over as an entirely new show with Joel McHale as the host, and is now in its second McHale season.  Can someone make this change, so that it's two shows, so long as that is the correct approach?
