Submissions rejected despite clear proof

So I've been adding uncredited cast members to Game On, a show that has a lot of speaking roles with no credit.

There are some relatively famous names who provide the voices to "TV programmes" being watched in the series. I've added these, got them rejected, added them again, got them rejected again.

The last time I tried to add them was under #231121-221043-249000

I've uploaded clear proof regarding this, which I don't particularly want to say on a public platform, but think "paperwork".

As an example, this episode: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0585706/reference/

should feature credits for both Chris Lang and Jan Ravens as "Kids TV Narrator(voice) (uncredited)"

I've submitted more to other episodes which have also been rejected, I'll have to go through my submissions for the full list.

Hi @MovieCat -

Uncredited voices are ineligible as per our guidelines, reason why they are being declined.

Thanks!

@Bethanny Ah! My mistake.

I get that it can be hard to verify them, but I had the paperwork and everything.

Oh well, at least it explains it, thank you.

This wasn't always the case and there are lots of uncredited voice casts. These should be eligible where there is clear proof that the person was the voice and it was not an impersonator.

Hi @adrian -

There are a few unique exceptions, such as if a Narrator has been credited on-screen for some episodes of a series, but is not credited on others, we will allow the attribute "(voice) (uncredited)".  There may also be instances, though rare, of a highly publicized uncredited voice cameo from a top performer that we would make an exception for.

@Michelle

The problem is that this is not factually true. There are many uncredited voice credits in IMDb (probably pre-dating any rules) and many of them are for virtually unknown actors. Then, some high profile voice credits are denied, such as singing voices for actors in musicals (where the parts are sung by others). There really is no rhyme or reason behind what currently exists.

When there is evidence that such credits should exist, IMDb should accept them. Some credits and casts are impossible to mark complete without having to delete actors who are rightfully listed as uncredited but do voice work.

Hi @adrian -

Just circling back here.  There are many reasons why 'uncredited voice' credits are live on the site, some you called out - rules change, there are exceptions, errors occur, etc.

As it stands today, due to the difficulty of verifying uncredited voice involvement, we generally don't allow uncredited voice credits.  If you encounter uncredited voice credit listings on the site that are listed in error, you are welcome to report them for removal and our editors will investigate.

With that being said, as media evolves, we will make continuous modifications to our guidelines, for example, we do allow uncredited voice credits on certain title types, like Podcasts.
