Submissions not approved or approved only in part, part 2

I have submitted some updates that have not yet been accepted and was wondering whether there was any particular reason(s). I have rechecked my submissions and cannot see any flaws in my syntax.

Is there are reason for the delay/ non-acceptance of these submissions?

Between Love & Goodbye (2008) (tt1137437)

#180629-231113-04800

I added a link and some detail to a Soundtrack item, “Serve It Up”. There has been no change to date.

Happy, Texas (1999) (tt0162360)

#180701-031208-738000

I added links to 14 Soundtrack items. One, “Honky Tonk Song”, is still unchanged.

Noel Rota (nm1215169)

#180705-222144-986000

I added a date and place of birth, and edited details of his death. Both of these were supported with website links.

None of this information has yet appeared on this entry.

The Little Drummer Boy (1968) (TV) (tt0063230)

#180705-044900-696000

#180719-094926-401000

Barbie: A Perfect Christmas (2011) (V) (tt2091240)

#180705-224937-433000

#180719-095058-238000

These two each had a duplicate soundtrack item – “The Little Drummer Boy“ for the former, and “Deck the Halls“ for the latter. I submitted a ‘delete’ request for one item in each title. Nothing happened. I assumed that it was because I had chosen the item that was ‘mapped’.

After waiting two weeks, I went back and submitted a deletion request for the other item in each title, assuming that it would not be a ‘mapped’ one. Nothing has happened as yet.

Hi Graham -

#180629-231113-048000: This submission was not approved, though I was unable to determine the exact reason why (perhaps the editor was unable to verify the changes), if you can post a screen grab here of the Soundtrack item our staff can take another look.

#180701-031208-738000: I can see that this submission was Approved.

#180705-222144-986000: Not Approved as our editors were unable to verify the changes, if you have evidence to help verify please re-submit with the verifiable linked online sources.

For the following submissions, these were not approved due to mapping issues.  Please note that anytime you see duplicated Soundtrack items (such as with the updates you submitted for), you will need to submit a deletion request for both items so an IMDb editor can make sure that the correct item is removed.

As I said above, I submitted this one with two website links -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helno

Has DOB and place of birth

https://www.discogs.com/artist/703812-Helno-Rota-De-Lourcqua?filter_anv=1&anv=Noël+Rota

Has DOB and cause of death

To those, I will add

https://secondhandsongs.com/artist/24024

Has DOB and DOD

http://themusicsover.com/tag/noel-rota/

Has DOB

https://www.landrucimetieres.fr/spip/spip.php?article1169

Interesting, as when I look at the Soundtrack listing, it has not changed.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0162360/soundtrack?ref_=tt_ql_trv_7

When I look at the original submission in my Update History, the track still has a green background as an indication of "not being/ yet to be approved". All the other corrections have the changes implemented  and have a white background.

With this one, the Soundtrack item merely has the initials and surnames of the songwriters

Serve It Up (NYC Club Mix)
Music & Lyrics by Z. Saunders, A. Martells
Performed by Quentin Elias
Courtesy of Quentin Elias Music Inc
www.quentinelias.com
I was adding detail of first names, and linking the second name as this person has an IMDB entry.

There is a DISCOGS entry for this song

https://www.discogs.com/Quentin-Elias-Serve-It-Up/release/1475639

It provides names of the songwriters -
Each name is linked -

My edit was to add detail to Saunders name and add a link to the Martells name.

Music & Lyrics by Zhana Saunders (as Z. Saunders) and [link=nm2073136] (as A. Martells)

#180719-095058-238000
The deletion process I find frustrating due to the mapping issues. It is a pity that there cannot be some code that indicates which items are mapped and which are not.

Deleting both items and letting the IMDB editor sort it out sounds a little like the quote from the Crusades:

"Kill them all and let God sort them out."

However, this would be inefficient at times.

Taking the example of the deletion I made for “Entourage”

There were two items for the same song:

Superhero
(uncredited)
Written by Perry FarrellDavid NavarroStephen PerkinsRobert Ezrin and Aaron Embry
Performed by Jane's Addiction

And

Superhero
(uncredited)
Performed by Jane’s Addiction

If I submitted deletion requests for both, then one would be deleted and one remain.

Unfortunately, in this case (and other instances I have come across), this would have resulted in the deletion of the first item. Once that was completed , I would then have to submit corrections (adding link and songwriters) to the second one.

So, instead of one submission being sufficient (with a deletion of one item and corrections to the other), it would take two and, as this duplication affected 96 episodes, overall it would take 192 submissions.

As a volunteer contributor, I would question the use of my time to do this.

Deletions Part 2

For the following submissions, these were not approved due to mapping issues.  Please note that anytime you see duplicated Soundtrack items (such as with the updates you submitted for), you will need to submit a deletion request for both items so an IMDb editor can make sure that the correct item is removed.

#180719-095058-238000
My query was really based around the idea that I had tried and failed to delete the second item of the duplicates in each case.

After waiting two weeks (roughly), I determined that the second item must have been the mapped one and that the first duplicate should be the one to be deleted.

I submitted a deletion request for the first item in each case but, a week later, there has been no change.

So, I was wondering whether there was a reason for the delay.

Surely they both can't be mapped?

I've taken a look and you are correct, both items were incorrectly mapped which explains why both deletes were rejected. Apologies for the error in our mappings, I've rectified this now.

Will

Hi Graham,

Have you tried resubmitting 180705-222144-986000 with the additional sources of information? Our data editors will be happy to take another look given your additional sources.

180701-031208-738000 is showing as approved, did you make all of the edits in this one submission?

180629-231113-048000 I've resubmitted on your behalf as this should have gone live.

In terms of duplicated soundtrack items I agree, if you need to add additional content to one item before submitting a delete then this makes little sense, in those cases it's probably best to try to delete the one item, if this isn't accepted then submit a delete against the other. I appreciate that this isn't ideal though.

Was there anything else outstanding?

Regards,
Will

Thanks, Will.

1. I have noted the deletions have occurred.

2. I've re-submitted #180705-222144-986000 with the additional links. Its new number is #180726-221125-332000.

I hope this does not mean I need six sources for every change in the future. :-)

3. Re: #180701-031208-738000

I submitted 14 corrections (adding links) in the submission. This is the part of the text.

This is what the relevant part of submission looks like in my Update History at present.

4. Re: #180629-231113-048000
No change as yet, but I'll wait 24 hours.

5. There are three others outstanding

# 180703-224630-325000
Another "deletion". Can you have a look at this one please? I tried deleting the fourth item, as it is the same song as the first one (the theme song), albeit with a different title).

#  180714-134344-375000
Adding a credit - but I have just obtained a screen capture for this, and will submit it via the Help Desk.

#  180725-100046-884000
Another deletion request -  but I have re-submitted to see whether it was the mapped item I had tried to delete.

Thanks for your help.

"Adding links(s)"? C'mon. What kind of deletion explanation is that?

I never used "Adding links" as a reason for deletion, and cannot see where that is mentioned above.

All the deletions I submitted were for 'Duplicate items".

Hi Graham -

1. Excellent!

2. I checked on this submission (#180726-221125-332000) and can see that it is currently pending review, so it should be looked at by an editor shortly.  For birth/death dates, you just want to make sure that the links you submit are from a verifiable source (ie. links to public records, printed publications, or official documents), if the information doesn't come from a reputable source or cannot be verified it will likely not be accepted.

3. Concerning your submission #180701-031208-738000, all the corrections were approved except for "Honky Tonk Song".  Dp you by chance have a link to evidence or screen grab that you can post here to help verify the change you are requesting?

4. Concerning #180629-231113-048000, it appears the correction is now live on this Soundtrack item, can you confirm?

5. Concerning #180703-224630-325000, the item you requested for removal cannot be removed due to mapping.  I have now removed the undesirable duplicate entry.

Concerning #180714-134344-375000, I can see that this credit  was not approved, if you have evidence that you submitted through our Contact Form, please check your Help messages to see if the evidence was acceptable.

Lastly, for #180725-100046-884000, it appears this duplicate "Silhouette" Soundtrack item has now been removed, see here.

I hope this helps!

Fair enough. I know one wrong source can be used by many websites and the cancer of ‘fake news’ will spread.

I am merely trying to link the band name, ‘BR5-49’, with its IMDB entry, ‘Br549’ (nm2795020). At present, when I look at the item in the Update History, the change has occurred, but on the actual page, it is not live.

“4. Concerning #180629-231113-048000, it appears the correction is now live on this Soundtrack item, can you confirm?”

Change is now live.

“5. Concerning #180703-224630-325000, the item you requested for removal cannot be removed due to mapping.  I have now removed the undesirable duplicate entry.”

Change is now live..

Received this from Atticus in Customer Service – just waiting for it to go live.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for clarifying this addition.

I have now added this credit on your behalf and it should be visible on the title page in the next 24 hours.”

“Lastly, for #180725-100046-884000, it appears this duplicate "Silhouette" Soundtrack item has now been removed, see here.”

Change is now live. This was interesting as it happened in two parts. The deletion took place first and was live, and then some hours later, the link was added to the entry.

Thank you again.

Re: #180701-031208-738000

I waited a couple of days to see if the item would change but it has not as yet.

The image below from my Update History shows that the text has changed - the addition of the link text, the "(as ...)" attribute, and the addition of the word "and" in the second line.

In the actual soundtrack entry, there has been no change.

It has been this way for several days.

I usually see this the other way around - the display text has updated but the underlying text has not changed, as it takes a little while to update the database fully.

Hi Graham -

Thanks for your follow-up notes.  I can see that the Soundtrack item is now hyperlinked with the Band name:

Cheers!
