Staff Help Needed with Declined Submission

My daughter was in a Netflix episode but when I try have this added to her IMDb page, I receive a message that the submission is declined for “bad formatting”. I have reviewed the submission guidelines and cannot figure out what exactly is wrong with my formatting. I have been declined twice. I sent an email requesting help but did not get a response. Can an IMDB staff member help me?

Hi @Blair -

Can we have you 18-digit submission reference to check on it?

Thanks!

Hi Bethany!

Thanks for your response. The reference number for the most recent submission attempt is 230110-094622-469000. I included video reel with that submission and it now currently says “pending.” My prior submissions also said pending and then were declined for “bad formatting” or “reasons that could not be captured.” I am not technologically savvy so I am likely submitting improperly. In the other submissions, I did include the call sheet, pay check and SAG voucher for the show. It’s a small role (but a big one for us!)  and it would be nice to get it on her IMDb site, if possible. I appreciate your help and sorry to take up your time. Thanks.

@Blair Hey!

So the badly formatted thing is the attribute. The attribute "(played a featured extra)" is not a valid attribute. If she played an extra and didn't receive an on-screen credit the attribute should be (uncredited) and if she did receive an on-screen credit no attribute is needed.

Cheers!

Aren't uncredited extras disallowed? I tried to find the rule but cannot with the reorganized help. However, "featured extra" would be an impermissible Character Name/Description. (I can't see the contribution so I don't know if this is the problem as well.)

From the help:
Uncredited submissions with an empty character field or with descriptions such as "lead", "supporting", "background, "extra", "featured". If that's the case, the character name should include a description of the part - Woman with Dog, for instance - and (uncredited) in the 'attribute' box.

@adrian No it did have a great descriptive character name, our guidelines say "It's not enough to have just worked on a production: The scenes must be included in the final cut, and it must be possible to easily identify their appearance." and as per the description of the character I would think it's probably an identifiable one. Also @Blair has not yet confirmed if there might be an on-screen credit.

Hi Bethanny and @Adrian,

Thanks for your responses.  As Bethanny noted, I did resubmit with a descriptive character name that is the exact same name used by the other kids who were in the same scene, with less visible parts, but have received credit for that one episode/role. None of the kids, including my daughter, received on-screen credit. I did also submit video reel identifying my daughter, which was declined. Separately, I submitted the call sheet, paystub and SAG voucher-all of which were declined because the submission with the video reel was pending. (When I tried to include the evidence items in one submission, the explanation box wouldn't accept more than one piece).

It's not a big deal and it's probably not worth all the trouble, at this point. It's such a small role. Also, it sounds like I can try to resubmit her as uncredited and see if that works?

Thanks again.

@Blair Yes sorry if I didn't make it clear, just resubmit with the evidence and changing the attribute to (uncredited), you should have no trouble doing so, let me know if you do.

Thanks!

Thanks again for your help. I’ll resubmit as uncredited and will reach out if it doesn’t work.
