Squid Game

Another user was questioning this recently as well (Michelle kinda misunderstood): https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/south-korean-titles-with-primary-english-names/617dad8c203b6a57f418d8af

I was assuming title card of Squid Game was probably English because for such a popular series, someone would fix it already if it was wrong but today I watched its first episode, and no, really, IMDb's original title is wrong. Title card, episode names etc.. are all in their original language Korean actually, they are not English.

This page indicates people tried to change original title already but they were declined: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10919420/releaseinfo

There's an AKA entry with (new title) attribute added, that happens when a Title Correction is declined and failed.

So, since people already tried and failed, I won't try it again. Please change its original title to romanized Korean title.

Episode names also needs changing, currently, on IMDb, only episode 7 reflects the original Korean title.

Wikipedia page is pretty good to get help with romanized titles of episodes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squid_Game

Also someone added episode 2.1 here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15939754/

But Netflix says nothing is confirmed yet: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/09/squid-game-season-2-talks-are-underway-netflix-says.html

So it would be better to delete 2.1 page until it's confirmed officially by Netflix (because as you can see below, it attracts fake credits)

And discovery of an all-fake name page after seeing this had the only credit on that 2.1 episode page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm12737237/

Checked plenty of title's credits on that name page, all fake.

Hi mbmb -

Thanks or clarifying the issue, as I better understand now.  Regarding the "Squid Games" I have now modified the original title text which is now displaying on the series title page

For the subsequent episode titles for the first season, I am re-confirming the policy with our editorial team to confirm if there are any special title text exceptions that apply or if the episode titles should be changed to reflect the title card, as we currently don't support alternative title texts on episodes to display both the English and Korean title.  As soon as I have confirmation I will post the details here.

Additionally, regarding the episode listing for #2.1, when a second season has been announced to be in the works, we will allow for a season two episode one placeholder, so this episode listing is eligible.

Cheers!

@Michelle Thanks for updating series title.

I think everything is already pretty clear on the episode policy: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/episode-guidelines/GDF7HR6CCCBKU3CP

The title: as it appeared on screen for that particular episode.

why would English alternate titles be used when there are original titles available? But OK, I hope your answer will arrive soon.

OK I'm fine with 2.1 staying, made a deletion request for tv-mini-series in that case, I hope it won't be declined: 211119-184738-631000

Lastly why did you ignore the all-fake name page report discovered via 2.1 page? I spent like an hour to check lots of title's end credits on that name page, just so it's ignored?
