Spoken Thanks Credits

David: To be clear, are the people Chris Plante thanks the same people who appeared on screen as panel members with him in that episode? If so, I'd be inclined to treat the spoken "special thanks to tonight's squad" as Cast credits, not Thanks credits. (Granted, it sounds like the same people may already have Cast credits from the same episode from having been identified previously in a spoken or written identification, in which case the "special thanks to tonight's squad" wouldn't make any difference.) If the people being thanked were crew members who were not otherwise credited, then those should be listed as Thanks credits, although it doesn't sound like that is the situation. Basically, I think that giving Cast members (i.e. talk show panelists appearing as themselves) additional Thanks credits when the host happens to say "thank you" to them at the end of the show would be redundant. These individuals' Cast credits should supersede any Thanks credits to them for the same work.

I appreciate gromit82's comments, but will there be an official ruling on this? (To answer gromit 82's question, all 5 participants sit around the same table.)
