Spoiler on Jamie Campbell Bower page

(STRANGER THINGS 4 SPOILER)

Jamie Campbell Bower is credited in Stranger Things as "Peter Ballard/Henry Creel/Vecna" in his filmography. This is  MASSIVE SPOILER and ruined the ending of Volume One for me and anyone else who went "huh, how do I know that guy...." I submitted an edit request but this needs to be taken down IMMEDIATELY.

Is there no direct way to contact IMDb about spoilers?

Hi MBKep -

I reviewed the filmography for "Jamie Campbell Bower" and can see that the character names listed for "Stranger Things" is now displaying "Friendly Orderly / Vecna".

The spoiler names you referenced appear to have since been removed.

I hope this helps!

@Michelle uh, no, "VECNA" is still a huge huge huge spoiler.  It should only say Peter Ballard or Friendly Orderly. "Henry Creel/Vecna/One" are all thought to be separate characters until the final moments of the last episode. None of thise names should ever appear in his credits.I keep checking it and it is constantly changing. It seems mulitple users are submitting changes, other users are submiting edit requests to remove the spoiler names, then OTHER users are changing it back. You need to lock it from edits. The imdb rules for filmography edits SPECIFICALLY states that spoiler names should not be submitted.

Hi @MBKep -

While we make occasional exceptions to exclude a character name when the character description in the end titles include spoilers, our preference is to list character names as they appear in on-screen credits, (i.e. the end titles cast listing).

For the episode "Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab", Jamie Campbell Bower is credited on-screen for the role of "Vecna", which is why we have retained the character name.

I hope this helps clarify!

Unacceptable.  This is a direct copy paste from the IMDb help center page on filmography credits.

"No Spoilers

Ian Hart plays Professor Quirrell in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. You're not supposed to know he's also Voldemort. Ian Holm plays Sir William Gull in From Hell. His character name is not "Jack the Ripper". Those are both supposed to be surprises.

If you haven't seen those two films, we just spoiled them for you. Sorry about that, but imagine how our users feel when they come to the site and see those character names before seeing the film. Even if factually correct, character names that constitute spoilers must be avoided at all costs.

This is especially true for multiple character names that can be easily omitted: it's just as effective to say that Cary Grant plays "Peter Joshua" in Charade. There is no need to say that he plays "Peter Joshua/Alexander Dyle/Adam Canfield/Brian Cruikshank", even if that's true."

You are violating your own rules. He is listed as Vecna in the episode 7 credits because THOSE CREDITS PLAY AFTER THE REVEAL. You are not grasping how huge of a spoiler this is. It absolutely ruined my viewing experience for a show that we've all waited nearly 3 years for. Nobody is supposed to know he is Vecna until the show reveals it.

I couldn't agree more. This is absolutely unacceptable and should be changed immediately. The reasoning for keeping it is preference to keep the name the same as in the credits? How does that take precedence over spoiling literally the biggest plot point in the entire show?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm not using hyperbole either. This was absolutely the most important reveal the show has had ever. All in the naming of a character. This is an extremely popular and highly anticipated show with a very large and vocal fanbase. "Justice for Barb" is an indication of the reach this show has.

I really don't think anyone wants to see what happens if enough people have this spoiled, especially if your only defense is, "Well, it does say his name in the credits, that roll after the episode which has the reveal in it. So I guess it's your fault for looking at a resource meant to enhance your viewing experience, and instead had the entire show ruined because the most important thing is being accurate."

I think anyone would agree, the rule should be only having a revealing character name appear in the episode after the reveal itself happens. For instance, there should be absolutely no mention of Agatha Harkness until episode 8 of WandaVision. Sure, the reveal happens in episode 7, but do you expect people not to use your service even once before, or while viewing this? Is there any downside at all? As far as I can tell, it's only bad to have this information in plain sight without any section at all for a spoiler cast or something to that effect. If somebody has seen the episode, knows the reveal and still has questions about the cast, they can always look for the information somewhere else. And, perhaps, that's the real reason this has been allowed to go on for so long.
