Sorting out an episode list for Man Alive?

BBC documentary series from the 60s-80s: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0404629/reference

The episode list as it stands at the moment seems completely arbitrary, with a "new" season starting the week after the "old" one has ended. BBC Genome doesn't really help in this regard, there's no real "new series" stuff, etc.

Now, this would be fine - it could just be left as it is - but there are are five episodes listed as "unknown", but which are dated, so clearly go in some of the runs - but there's no space for them, numerically: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0404629/episodes?season=-1

I would suggest the easiest thing to do would be to do each "season" by year, as it seemed to be an all-year-round show, certainly when it started.

... this also doesn't, of course, take into account whether or not "The Man Alive Debate/Report" should be regarded as a different show, a spin-off programme.

Indeed, seasons can be a bit tricky with these type of series. Often there’s e.g. a summer break between seasons (one season ends, let’s say, in May, and the new one starts in August) so one season can actually ran in the course of two different years. This is actually quite common for many non-fiction series that run several years.

Archives and original air dates (newspapers/tv guides) is probably your best bet. If you really want to confirm the season/episode order.

@eboy Well, I've run it through BBC Genome and it was pretty much constantly on air, at least at the start.

It's just those five "unknown" episodes... it's easy to see where they fit, as they're dated. But there's no room for them, number wise.
