Someone changed the writing credits on Nancy Drew

I noticed today that someone has changed all the writing credits on the series Nancy Drew from Carolyn Keene (who no longer exists in the IMDb system) to Mildred  Wirt Benson. This is wrong. Carolyn Keene is a pen name and many people wrote under this name, not just Mildred. The Carolyn Keene name needs to be restored and returned to the credits of Nancy Drew. I assume someone did a bad merge thinking that the was only one Carolyn Keen but there is not and any number of authors could have influenced the show. The pen name should be used since there is no definitive answer to who is "Carolyn Keene".

Thanks for your message.

I have reverted back the page to Carolyn Keene as requested.

Regarding the credits for John Smith, unfortunately we are unable to remove the attribute as it needs to reflect how the credit appeared on-screen.

Thanks for your understanding.

@Rida

Thank you. I hope that you reached out to the user that made this change letting them know it was an incorrect change so that they do not do it again in the future.

My hunch is someone merged the Carolyn Keene page into the Mildred Wirt Benson page erroneously. The Nancy Drew page always had the Carolyn Keene pen name as it should as there are multiple people who wrote the Nancy Drew mysteries and the show isn't based on any one of them.

Oh wow! I just checked the Nancy Drew page. I did not realize @Rida the change was not made the right way. This change should not have  Mildred  Wirt Benson. What needed to be done was to separate out the Nancy Drew series credits only back on to a separate Carolyn Keene page.

I think destroyed is a bit of hyperbole since the page is still there, just under the wrong name. I guess I could do this myself but seems like it should have been an easier task for an employee. I didn't think this would be the result.

Bump! @Rida can we get this fixed the correct way?

Bump again. This is still broken and providing false information. @Rida or @Michelle

In response to my query in this thread, @Rida Changed Mildred's page to Carolyn Keene. This was not what I meant in the previous thread. I've tried bumping the previous thread but it is getting no attention so I'm starting anew.

Mildred's page needs to get reverted to the previous state with her name on it, not Carolyn Keene. The credits for Nancy Drew, need to revert to the old Carolyn Keene page before it was merged with Mildred's page. Since the Nancy Drew series could draw on any Nancy Drew book, not just the ones Mildred wrote, it should be on the generic pen name Carolyn Keene.

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Mildred Augustine Wirt Benson's profile page is still broken.

Hi Adrian & All -

I have now reinstated the correct name page text back to "Mildred Wirt Benson".

As I understand the credit issue, all the "Nancy Drew" credits need to be updated to include the correct pen name attribute - "as Carolyn Keene".  Is that correct?

@Michelle

No. Carolyn Keene is a pen name and can refer to any number of people. As it is not clear which novels inspired the series or particular episodes, the previous Carolyn Keene page should be restored and all the Nancy Drew "based on" credits moved back there.

Hi Adrian -

To clarify, were there different people writing under the pen name "Carolyn Keene" for "Nancy Drew"?

Or was there only one person using the pen name (ie. "Mildred Wirt Benson")? If this is the case, then the credits should remain on the existing page with the name attribute.

There are multiple people who wrote under the pen name "Carolyn Keene". There's somewhere between 10-15 different people writing from the 1930s until 1985. Mildred Wirt Benson was merely the first.

Hi Adrian -

Thanks for confirming, I have now moved the applicable credits to a separate page listing under "Carolyn Keene", the changes should be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!

@Michelle

Do we have any idea what other credits may have been on the previous Carolyn Keen's page? (I assume all this happened because someone merged that name into Mildred Wirt Benson's page.)

It looks like someone, has once again, merged Carolyn Keene's page into Mildred Wirt Benson's page. Why was this approved a second time? Can we get this fixed, again? Can you reach out to the user that has made this merge twice now?

It's been two weeks since I brought this issue up, again. It has gotten no response from IMDb. As discussed here, this is wrong for many reasons. Can an IMDb staffer restore the Carolyn Keene profile and reach out to the person who continues to erroneously merge these two name pages?

Hi Adrian -

Apologies for the long delay.  I have now split the name pages again and reinstated the credited back to "Carolyn Keene".

I have also reached out to the contributor who recently combined the name pages, as they may not be aware that the pen name was used by several different individuals over time.

Cheers!
