Separating different recordings of the same stage production

There are at least two different recordings of the Spirited Away stage play, with different casts (one led by Kanna Hashimoto, the other led by Mone Kamishiraishi).

GKIDS’s page about their N. American release of the recordings lists the casts of the two recordings, with slashes between the actors who play the same character in the different recordings.

However, on IMDb, there is only one movie, which has the casts of both recordings attached to it.

Since one recording has not replaced the other and both are available, they should be two different movies by IMDb’s rules.

Is there a way that the movie can be split into two which have most of the data the same, except for the main cast members and the N. American cinema screening dates? Or, at least, can the movie be duplicated and some of the cast then removed?

Hi @English_pedantic_grammarian -

As each recording has different footage, cast/crew, etc., the titles are eligible to be listed separately on the site.  A separate, new title page for the USA title has been approved and should be live on the site shortly.

With regard to splitting the titles, you will need to request a removal of the US information from the original title page, and you will need to resubmit that information under the new title page.

Let us know if you have any questions.

I don’t understand what you mean in the above post by “the USA title” and “the US information”. Both the recordings are Japanese.

Hello English_pedantic_grammarian,

What is missing to be requested are the corrections in order to move the incorrect credits to the correct title versions. You can submit the updates using our online self-service and our editors will take a look for you!

On our Help Articles, you can find instructions and additional information about submitting corrections/updates.
