separate camera and electrical.

I use IMDB to find camera crews on jobs.  Is there any way to separate camera and electrical?  Sometimes there are so many names to go through just to find the first and second assistant camera.  It would be so helpful.  Thanks

I believe there are plans to split this section into separate Camera and Electrical in the future. However, they are still working on transferring all sections to a new update/display system and are not likely to do any work on new splits until all current sections are on the new system and running well.

It is likely to be quite a long time before any work will be done on this split.

Since I last checked in four years ago, things have gotten more difficult to find. Between, grips, electrical and camera, sometimes I have to go through 150 names just to find who did a specific position. Can we separate camera, grip and electrical please?

Is there any progress on this?

Lumping together the Camera and Electrical Departments does not make sense. As it would not make sense to lump together, say, the Sound and Art Department. I suspect the thousands of us who work in these departments would all agree. It is frustrating and inconvenient to have multiple unrelated departments all listed together.

 

PLEASE SEPARATE CAMERA AND ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENTS INTO THEIR OWN CATEGORIES.

P. S. Grips should have their own category as well. If not then the category could be “Grip and Electrical Departments”

grip and electric make sense together as there is often crossover but PLEASE the camera crew needs their own heading.

Camera department is an entirely different set of skills than electric or grip. It is a disservice to the entire industry that the foremost page for credits in said industry doesn’t acknowledge the difference.

Just saw this thread.  Yes.  Now that IMDB is the de facto resume for so many crew members, I use it all the time to reference their credits.  There are so many set lighting technicians on every show that it is actually hard to pick out the camera people.  Please separate the two departments into TWO SEPARATE CATEGORIES.  Thanks.

IMDB - Please add my vote to separate Camera Department credits from our dear brothers and sisters in Grip and Electric. There can be so many names on big shows with multiple units that all get lost together.

It’s actually “uneducated” to have Electrics and Camera together, but Grips by themselves. It makes more sense if you Must combine a group to have Grips and Electricians together and Camera separate.
