Searchable Occupation database
I have been updating cast and crew in some films recently.
One problem I have with crew members is that sometimes it is not obvious to which department the occupation given belongs.
Not being a professional in the film/ TV industry, many of these job titles make little sense to me (scan and shoot, dailies coordinator, color timer, lustre assistant). As well, the jobs are often assigned in the credits to a department which does not appear in the IMDB crew section e.g laboratory.
I know that it is possible to locate a job title in a particular department by using the drop-down box, but this is not particularly efficient.
It would be useful for amateurs like myself to be able to go to a searchable database and enter a job title and be given the name of the department to which it should be assigned or the nearest match.
e.g.
Search: scan and shoot
Department: visual effects
Search: assistant sfx
Department: unknown job, possible department Special Effects
