Please explain which part of this constitutes a film review, a ‘critical evaluation’?

”The setting was excellent”. Is that really it? An IMDb user, trying to decide on an evening’s viewing, is concerned only with the setting?

”Hmm … horror? … romance? … historical drama? … family comedy? … animation? Who cares? Let’s just find one with a good setting.”

Hi @silvio_mitsubishi -

Thanks for reporting. The review does not contain anything breaching our policies, it will not be deleted.

Thanks!

@Bethanny You have hit the nail on the head: it does not breach any policies, so it stands.

You did not suggest it was a valid review, I notice. If the user had posted the weather report for that day in their local area, it would not actually breach policies, but neither would it be a review.

This is not a question of ‘breaking the rules’ but of having a website fit for purpose. If your policies and guidelines are not ensuring that, then they are worthless.

@silvio_mitsubishi Hi!

The review is someone's opinion of the title, does not breach any of our policies, and will not be deleted.

Thanks for understanding.

@Bethanny But I don’t.

What you seem to be saying is that users can write absolutely anything and call it a ‘review’, even if it has nothing in it about the actual film.  The most fundamental policy should be “Only reviews will be considered for the ‘Reviews’ section”, surely?
