Reviews randomly being deleted

I posted reviews for 2 different episodes of a TV show, both of which I later on edited to simplify and or fix grammar errors. However, when I went to edit them a second time, either a few hours or a day or two later, they disappear, and both met all guidelines. One of which was deleted about a year ago, and the other one I edited the other day was deleted afterwards when I went back to check if the edit was approved and if it was still on the list of reviews. Please advise.

Hi Duderocks5539-

In order for our staff to investigate further, do you have the 18-digit submission reference numbers for these 2 deleted User reviews? Once we have this information we can review it.

Cheers!

@Maya I could only locate one of them, which is the most recent one. #230420-043638-758104

Hi @Duderocks5539 -

I reviewed this specific User Review and can confirm that it was removed because it was in violation of our guidelines, specifically regarding the usage of profane words.

I hope this helps!

@Michelle I don't recall using any cuss words in it, nor do I understand why it would still just disappear without any warning. Can you restore it if I can change some things? I really don't want to repost something I posted almost 2 years ago.

Hi @Duderocks5539 -

Keep in mind that in addition to cuss words,  our profanity guideline also includes offensive/inappropriate terms.

When a User Review is reported and removed, we do not provide a notification.  In these instances you will need to resubmit the User Review.

@Michelle Are you saying you along with anyone else at IMDb don't have the capability to restore it even if its edited to remove or censor items that don't meet guidelines? I really do not want to repost it as I had upvotes on it that kept coming in as I pretty much was exposing an episode of a TV show that was misogynistic and I tried to get the word out as much as possible using IMDb.

Past times when I edited or changed things on the review, I had no issues meaning all previous times it meet guidelines, this last time when it was deleted, I only added a small paragraph that contained no inappropriate words before it was removed.

Hi @Duderocks5539 -

Under certain circumstances Staff can reinstate a removed User Review, although it is rare.  In this case, I have made a one-time exception, I removed the inappropriate term and have reinstated it live on the site.

I hope this helps!

@Michelle Thank you, what was the term that was removed?

Hi @Duderocks5539 -

The text line that included the term "whore".

I hope this helps!

Indeed the word "whore" has for a long time been rather pejorative and certainly colloquial for "prostitute" or even "sexually-promiscuous person". Strange to see that not everybody is aware of this.

@Michelle Ah ok, I could've at least changed it to "prostitute" instead.

@Michelle On an unrelated note, on a Computer, is there a way to view down votes on reviews? When a review is shown as a featured review, it will show downvotes, but what about for each individual review when on the reviews page?

Hi @Duderocks5539 -

My apologies for the delayed response.  Just circling back here, there is not an option to sort or filter User reviews based on "Helpful" or "Unhelpful" votes.
