Reviews disappeared

In the last two days about 20 of my reviews have disappeared.  I don't know which ones but my review count has dropped from 4,001 to 3,821 in two days.  Any explanation for this, IMDB staff?

Hi @grantss,

Thank you for your report.

A number of your reviews have been removed as they were exact duplicates which is a violation of our user review guidelines as they display as exact copied reviews. For example, on a series you had the same review across multiple episodes. If the review is for the episode, it should not be duplicated, if it is for the series in general you should submit it to the parent series page. For future reference, we will keep the review you posted first.

I hope this helps!

@Ozzy Hi Ozzy.  Which series had duplicates?  I know I had duplicated a few reviews on "Combat!" but those were removed a few weeks ago.  Otherwise I can't think where I've used the same review on multiple episodes.

Hi @grantss,

I can see that duplicate reviews were removed for A Touch of Frost, Panama Canal: Prized Possession, Cracker and Lewis

I hope this helps!

@Ozzy Hi Ozzy.  All these relate to 2-part episodes where, rather than writing a separate review for each part (as I see that as being overly granular), I wrote one overarching review for both parts.  I even had a disclaimer like "(Review is of both parts)" at the start of the review to make it clear that it is an overall review.  Are you saying that's not okay?

Hi @grantss,

After further review, I can confirm that not all said reviews are related to 2-part episodes. However, those that are related to 2-part episodes are still duplicated text and user reviews should differ and be authentic in response to the content within each episode part. In short, all reviews submitted to any title page on IMDb should be not be a duplicate of any other review. It is up to you which episode to submit your review to if you were to write an overarching review, but it should only be submitted once.

I hope this helps!

@Ozzy Thanks Ozzy.  That's fine, as long as you're applying the same rules and violation identification procedures to all reviewers and not relying on reports from members who potentially have an axe to grind.  I've had several of my reviews reported for having spoilers, and marked as having spoilers, when they clearly have no spoilers and someone keeps downvoting my reviews en masse.
