Review continually declined

Hi.  I've submitted a review twice now and it's been declined both times.  I've gone through the eligibility requirements and can find absolutely nothing in my review that would qualify it to be declined.

#240929-014141-499004   was the first attempt.

#240930-215620-489504   was the second attempt.  I removed three words I thought might have been unacceptable, but apparently I didn't need to, as it was declined again.

Any help with why these were not accepted would be very much appreciated.

I'm a little bit confused sometimes as to why some reviews are allowed but others aren't.  As an example, I've seen many IMDB reviews that have surmised that when a mediocre film has been given a lot of 10-star reviews, it's suspect that friends or crew of the filmmaker may have written them... but when I've written that in three of my reviews, they've all been declined.

Are the reviews screened by actual people, or is it a computer algorithm?  I'm seriously starting to wonder if these are being screened by people, they're sometimes being declined if they don't agree with the reviewer's opinion..?

Hi @doug_mckirahan,

Thank you for your problem report.

I can confirm that your first review attempt was declined because it contained profanity, which is not permitted per our guidelines. Your second attempt was declined as the concluding sentences starting from "tell that to the many transgender individuals(...)" were deemed to be off topic from reviewing the content of the title. Additionally, a user review should not mention or call out other reviews on the page.

We therefore encourage you to edit and re-submit your review. Please feel free to post your new 18-digit submission reference to this thread, and I can monitor it through processing for you.

Cheers!

Thanks very much for the quick reply and clarification.

I'm still a little confused... I see many reviewers state "I don't agree with the hateful reviews here" and sometimes actually call out a specific review they don't like, and those seem to be accepted.  Wouldn't that also be calling out other reviewers?  Also, the profanity I used was quoting a political banner that was used in the film... I didn't write the actual word that was on the banner, I only provided the first letter followed by three asterisks.  Just trying to get a better understanding of what's allowed and what isn't, as it's kind of confusing.

I'll re-edit my review, and re-submit it, thanks again.

Hi @doug_mckirahan,

No problem. If you encounter any user reviews that do not comply with the guidelines, you can report them by following the guidance in our Help article. As for the profanity, this is still not permitted as stated in the user review guidelines:

Profanity, obscenities, or spiteful remarks (even if partially censored/disguised)

Not acceptable:

  • You must be F***ing crazy to want to watch this more than once (use of profanity, even though obscured by asterisks)

Cheers!

Same thing.  It was accepted and then all I did was change the review's title to: "Downplays the discrimination a lot of trans people face"," and it was declined again!

The review is not meeting our User Review guidelines, therefore it can't be listed on the site. You can re submit a review based on the guidelines.

???  The review was already accepted (see above thread) and posted.  All I did was change the title, nothing in the content of the review was changed.

The review has personal opinions on real life events, the review is not based on the content and goes off topic same as social commentaries, we do not allow any of those.

Feel free to write a review based on the guidelines.
