Review Bombing on Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City

I have high reason to believe that Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City, and some of the specials were subject to a review-bombing campaign on IMDB. Back in October of 2025, far-right influencers such as Libs of TikTok posted inflammatory tweets targeting shows on Netflix that featured queer elements, one of which was Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. This post targeting the show itself:

And another targeting the Specials:

A couple days later, fans of the show began reporting that the IMDB page suddenly had its ratings take a massive dive from its original 7-ish rating to a dismal 5.2, then 4.9/10 the next day, and now the show currently sits at 4.7. The individual episodes likewise suddenly had an influx of ratings:

(Before: from a March 2025 video from YouTuber lulaloopsey discussing BitBC showing the IMDB ratings at the time. Notice how most of the episodes didn't have scores, but the ones that did were mostly in the 8-9 range? Keep in mind that the show had been out for 4 years by that point) (Current: The present ratings for the individual episodes. Suddenly all the episodes now have reviews, despite most going 4 years without, and the main page having so little attention beforehand that the cast list is still full of miscredited actors. And notice the sudden drop in scores across the board from 8-9s to 5-7s?)

I should also mention that most of the User Reviews are from 2021-2023, and the two from 2025 were from January and May respectively, doesn't it seem suspicious that a sudden barrage of negative ratings doesn't have any User Reviews from that time as well? With this in mind, I don't think it's farfetched to believe the show was victim to intentional negative reception following the inflammatory posts from early October.

Hi Zephyrwind-

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We are aware that there are people who may vote for the sole purpose of trying to inflate/deflate the rating for a movie. We have several safeguards in place to automatically detect and defeat this type of ballot stuffing: even though we count and display all unaltered votes in the rating breakdown, we apply several countermeasures against all attempts to skew the rating for the weighted rating you see displayed on the site. We will review the title in question to ensure that the weighted average is displaying as intended.

For more information on our abuse detection methods, or details about IMDb ratings and weighted averages, please refer to our Ratings FAQs.

Cheers!
