Solved

Request to change a title to "Version of" was botched

I sent a request to change a documentary's alternate version from its label of "edit" to "version of". I later received an email that the change went into effect and implied that nothing went wrong. However, when I looked at the page, the people who helped make the change got it backwards, with the unaltered version being labeled as the "alternate" version. Along with that, they removed any instances of that documentary being edited into other programs.

I sent another email asking to partially revert the movie connections tab involving the "edited into" section, but the people on the other end couldn't understand what I was saying, even though I thought I made myself clear. I'm so confused and frustrated, but I'd like to ask for some help on this!

As for information on the revert and previous details, is there any way for that information to be saved prior to the change? I'm scared about this affecting other potential requests, and I don't know if I still have copies of my edit IDs since I delete them for space.

The documentary was called Emperors of Antarctica from 1993 by the way: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0823211/

"Version of" connections are always mirrored on the connected titles. They do not label one of the titles as "alternate".

Do you have any examples of other pages where this occurs? I'm so sorry for the confusion.

Also what about the other titles that were also included under "edited into"? I do not know if I still have the reference numbers, which include the other titles. Is there any way to check and partially revert them?

Connections that you submitted would be included in the regular update history

https://contribute.imdb.com/updates/history

as well as the beta history page:

I'm aware of that, but I am concerned that I deleted them. I'm not so sure if I still have them saved since I can't search them by typing the page's title. That is why I was asking for a partial revert so I can make double check that nothing went wrong in the process like they said, if that makes any sense.

I am so sorry for the confusion, I don't usually remember the exact details of what's been submitted, especially if it was months ago.

The beta history page doesn't have a delete feature.

So what does that mean about the edits where I'm not certain if they've been reverted? Again, deleted some reference numbers from my contribution history for space.

EDIT: It doesn't look like the beta history page does, however just to clarify things, this is the feature I'm referring to when I'm talking about deleting edits. The reference number listed only shows the original edit before it got changed at my request.

Hi TheKingOfFrogs-

We are further reviewing this connections request, however, can you give us more information/further explanation on the 'version of' that belongs within this title?

Further reviewing, "Wild Discovery" Emperors of Antarctica is under version of for this title above but we can't verify this.

Cheers!

I think after that other post I made, I think I now know how "version of" works, and no need to change that in regard to the Wild Discovery version.

I was more concerned because I swore that during the process there were other unrelated titles listed under "edited into" that got removed during the process. I hope that makes sense.
