Removing a wrongfully created IMDB page

Hello,

I represent a group of journalists who make videos and podcasts related to videogames, mainly on youtube. One of our fans have created an IMDB-page for us without our knowledge, and have wrongfully added a lot of famous actors as actors on many of our videos (without them having anything to do with us). At this point, since the damage is so vast, it's probably best to remove the whole IMDB page. We don't need it, at all, and have no interest in having one. Is there any way to actually do this?

I hope that anyone here have a good guess about what to do, or who to talk to, because we're at a loss here.

Thanks!

Frida

They likely will not remove the page for a legitimately released webseries but I agree the pages are a mess due to someone giving uncredited acting credits to the people who do voices in the video games that appear which was not worth doing at all. The page needs scrubbing of all these uncredited voice credits.

Definitely, and that's what we would like to do. The problem is that I don't have any access to the page, so I can't remove what has been added there either. They have added voice actors, and even people we just talked about in a podcast! It does not look good for our brand, to be honest. Any idea on how I can scrub all of it? It's *very* comprehensive, with several hundred podcast episodes and video having the wrong credits...

@fdanmo Right, so the podcast stuff would be fine, it'd need changing from TV series to Podcast, but if it's a hodge podge of other stuff mixed in that shouldn't be included then you are right, it's a mess, probably added by an overexuberant fan.

You can actually edit the page if you have a regular IMDb account but still it'd be a lot of work to fix all that. An IMDb staff member will possibly come by and advise on what steps to take if any.

If they scrub the series I hope they also scrub all the IMDB pages that are solely credited for that series, no idea what all these one name 'fan producer' credits are all about.

It's quite a mess. I have no idea what the person who did all this though when he did it. I will try to edit what I can, but I think contacting an IMDb staff member is probably the best here.  Thank you so much for your help!

No problem, the extra info you gave us will inform staff when they check this thread. I'd wait to see what they say before using up your time just yet, they may save you the effort. Best of luck.

Thank you so much! I didn't know how these community boards worked here and if I even would get any replies, but I am really thankfull for your help. Then I'll just wait to see if they reply, and go forward from there.

Are ”basic” gaming streams (where a person(s) is just playing video games and commenting over them) accepted? Where does IMDb draw the line?

That's basically what they have added as well. It's not actual productions, which would be fine to be honest, but just heaps and heaps of entries on streams, podcasts, let's plays, with wrongfully credited (high profile) actors...

@eboy The rules on acceptable content in this area seems vague to me, like they say if it contains mostly footage of other titles then No, but if it's of artistic merit then yes. What's the guideline for 'artistic merit' in that type of ruling, no idea, sounds like a bendable rule to whoever is deciding whether to contribute something they really want to contribute.
Maybe this has been discussed before and someone who remembers can chip in.

Video game playthroughs, movie reactions etc just shouldn't be allowed really in my view but you gotta wonder how many, in light if this, have ended up on the site.

I fully agree that they do not belong on this site, which is also one of the reasons I want "our" page removed.

Certainly in these, only the people talking should be added (with ”voice” attribute) - if they’re accepted in the first place. They’re using games/material that is already ”released” somewhere (the actual video games, that is).

I agree that only the ones actually talking should be added. What I am wondering is how to remove all the others that have been wrongly added (without our knowledge or approval), do you know?

I believe you should be more specific about the streams in question. If you can’t/want for some reason, you could also use IMDb Help Desk: https://help.imdb.com/contact

Thanks! It's on this page: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6473822/

Since there's 784 entries (I don't understand why all of these were added), going through each and every one of them and finding all the wrongly added names will be quite a job... That's why I would like the whole page to be just be deleted. It's not just a wrong name here and there, but significant errors on many of the entries. I think I'll try out the Help Desk, as this might be quite a problem to fix.
