Conrad: There are several possibilities. All of them will involve providing a URL linking to another website. Here are some examples:

  • if the film was shown at a film festival -- a link to a page on the festival website showing the film on the schedule
  • a link to a movie theater website with showtimes for the film
  • a link to a review of the film which mentions that it is being shown in a theater

For non-theatrical releases, here are some other possibilities:

  • for a TV movie -- a link to a network or station schedule showing the film on the schedule
  • for a movie released on streaming -- a link to the streaming site's webpage for the film
  • for a direct-to-video movie -- a link to a website where the video is for sale (especially an Amazon.com site if possible; Amazon owns IMDb)

These are not the only possibilities, but they are some of the main ones.

I hope this helps.

If a short film by an influencer is released on YouTube — will a link to the YouTube site change the listing from “Completed” to “Released”?

@conradhurtt Besides providing the link to the YouTube site, you should also submit a Release Date for the short film. I believe the Release Date will be necessary in order to get the film's status changed from "Completed" to "Released".

In addition, please submit a Production/Development Status of "Released".

This combination of data should be enough to get the status listing changed to "Released".

Good luck!
