Release date
Hi @Maya, I'm seeking guidance on a Title Year correction. Our short film tt28435612 had an early, out-of-competition preview screening in 2023, which is currently listed as the release year. However, Michael Benedict, Director overseeing Short Film elegibility at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has confirmed in writing that the film's first relevant public screening is considered to be 2024, and that the film is eligible for the 2027 Oscars cycle on that basis. Having IMDb display 2023 creates a direct contradiction with the Academy's official position. Would it be possible to update the Title Year to 2024 while maintaining the 2023 festival date in the Release Dates section? Happy to share the Academy correspondence if helpful.

Hi, Antonio:
According to the IMDb official guidelines, which prevail over the Academy's official position:
Era Uma Vez no Apocalipse (2023) was indeed screened at the 2023 Lisbon International Horror Film Festival (13 Sep 2023), and the official program announced it as the "World Premiere".
Therefore, unless an IMDb editor disagrees, it does not seem appropriate to change the current year in the title, sorry.

If the Academy said that, is it because they believe it was not the completed film which was screened in 2023? If there is evidence of that there may also be a chance of listing the screening differently in IMDb.
