Release date attribute warning

This screen seems inherently conflicted:

On the one hand, the attribute field is greyed out and inaccessible.
On the other hand, the warning message wants an attribute.

bderoes: My guess is that this is intentional. If the film really is being screened in cinemas nationwide, as this one appears to be, then there should not be an attribute.

However, I would guess that a large number of films have been entered into the database with no attribute as though they had been released nationwide -- when, in fact, they weren't released nationwide and the submitter should have included an attribute.

So by giving a yellow (bypassable) warning, the IMDb staff gives the submitter another reminder that they should really be sure that the film had a nationwide cinema release.

In this particular case, submitting this way and checking "Warning understood, go ahead anyway" appears to be the right decision.

@gromit82

I follow your logic. The wording of the warning makes it seem that I should be adding an attribute, which is physically impossible. So the wording of the warning should reflect your explanation, if correct.

What I didn't mention: This film is being released in theatres for one day only. It would have been nice to add that as an attribute.

Hi, thanks for flagging this. I believe this warning was created before the change to the contribution interface. The message in the warning is now outdated. I have raised this with the appropriate team.

Thank you
