Rejection of Accurate Cast Additions #2. Why?

There continues to be a great discrepancy surrounding the acceptation or rejection of cast additions for Background Actors, Extras, Dancers, Musicians etc. who appear or are heard ON-SCREEN and who have ON-SCREEN CREDITS.  Their rejection is a great discredit to these performers, and belies IMDb's trust in ON-SCREEN CREDITS.

I can give you examples of both, but IMDb needs to clarify its policy.

I, of course, think that ALL ON-SCEEN CREDITS should be honored with an eared listing on IMDb.

P.S. It is also disrespectful of contributors who take the time and attention to ADD these ON-SCREEN CREDITS, all of which are verifiable in the actual ON-SCREEN CREDITS.

I know that, but I am asking WHY some are processed, and some are not?

You are asking IMDb to clarify policy about eligibility of screen credits when that policy is very clear. Your real issue is that they will not always take your word for what is in the credits.

You already know that processing can depend on the name or title involved, and since there is a human factor I don't think anyone would claim it is entirely consistent. As they also say, "IMDb reserves the right to reject or delete information at any time at its sole discretion."

But... there needs to be an explanation of both the rejections and the acceptances.  Now, it is just elusive, with no guidance as to what is being accepted and what is being rejected.

And, yes, in the past, I have submitted screenshots, but this problem has STILL not been resolved.

I defy IMDb to look at ANY of the cast submissions that I have made FROM ON-SCREEN CREDITS and "come up" with any explanation as to what ON-SCREEN CREDITS are acceptable for one title, but not acceptable for another.  It is now just "helter skelter."

Hi bradley_kent -

To give you an answer specific to the case I will need the 18-digit submission reference.

Also, Peter_pbn is right regarding depending on the title/name we will need more evidence.

Cheers!

Again, I am asking WHY some on-screen cast credits are being accepted and some are not.  (They have ALL had order numbers as to where the cast member's name appears on-screen.)

Here is an example of one from many:

221025-153648-069000
Track Contribution
2022-10-25 15:36:48 Synchronic (2019)
Cast -  8 credits added

By the way, I DO NOT create cast order numbers, but only submit them as to how they appear in the ON-SCREEN credits.

And... here are a couple more examples (which I was able to watch on line), in this case, historical people who appear in archive footage:

221026-033126-973000
Track Contribution
2022-10-26 03:31:26 "The War Lords" (1976) {Mussolini (#1.1)}
Cast -  2 credits added
221026-032940-805000
Track Contribution
2022-10-26 03:29:40 Homo Sapiens 1900 (1998)
Cast -  3 credits added

Hey Bradley!

Thanks for posting the submissions. 221025-153648-069000, this was a high ranked title with no evidence provided, reason why it was not accepted, but I have taken the time to look for the end credits and now resubmitted on your behalf and approved. 221025-222358-993000 same situation, high ranked, no evidence, in this case again I have searched for the credits, verified, resubmitted on your behalf and approved. For the last 2 I have to agree with you were processing errors since it is very common for historical people to appear in archive footage, I have also resubmitted on your behalf and approved.

Hope all this answers help.

Cheers!

Additional Crew -  1 credit added

Hi @bradley_kent -

As mentioned in my previous comment, please resubmit these and any other where it is a high ranked title with no evidence, with evidence attached for our editors to review. If you have any problem with submissions even if providing evidence please let us know I'll be happy to help you.

Cheers!

The "evidence" is the ON-SCREEN CREDITS.  IMDb is in a much better financial situation than me to rent or buy the DVDs.  I will resubmit.
