Hello @Michelle , checking back in regarding the plans for the addition of this missing language. What date is this process scheduled to be completed by?

It was posted on Tuesday June 27th 2023, one year exactly since this IMDB poll was created on the instruction of IMDB’s Costumer Support department. The creation of this poll was done so in good faith, we hope that IMDB will follow through with the same integrity:“To the organizers of IMDB, today marks one year since this poll was created to recognize the Indigenous language Michif in IMDB’s language contribution section and ten months since there was a single response from one of your representatives. Your team instructed us to make this poll to address the matter and in a year’s time the only change made regarding the request was the poll’s status changing from “Planned” to “No status”. We are concerned that this process is being used to silence Indigenous voices and ignore the very valid ask that this marginalized language and the Métis people be acknowledged. As a leader in the film and TV industry this is IMDB’s opportunity to stand with Indigenous creators and be an example of what good allyship can look like. If IMDB is the type of company that truly stands for inclusion, diversity, and equity we would appreciate transparency regarding this request process and an honest determination on the inclusion of the Michif language in IMDB’s language contribution section.”

@Michelle hope you are well. We are approaching the 2 year mark on this effort. Can you please provide any insight or updates on IMDB's progress with recognizing the Indigenous Michif language in its data base? Any info would be much appreciated. Maarsii.

Stop the delays, own your responsibility, and do the right thing:As of January 29, 2025, it has been 2 years, 7 months, and 1 day (946 days) since IMDb was asked to recognize Michif, a real and valid documented language, on their platform. It is deeply disappointing that IMDb continues to ignore this request, showing a clear lack of honesty in their dealings with the public and their customers. IMDb’s ongoing disregard for Indigenous languages and communities is shameful. Beyond transparency concerns, it’s evident that their system for addressing site changes or issues is intentionally designed to waste users’ time and avoid real accountability. Furthermore, Michelle—the company representative listed in these chats—appears to be an automated response bot rather than a real person. If you are, in fact, a real individual, Michelle, the work you are doing lacks integrity and is frustrating to those seeking meaningful change. This is not just my experience; countless others from various communities have also requested language recognition, only to be met with the same dismissive treatment.
