Ratings from the UK for a film not yet released in the UK!

Hi there - looking at the ratings for the film THE STRANGER IN OUR BED - which is released in the UK on Sept 5 - I'm somewhat purturbed that so many ratings (154 of them) come from the UK when the film has not even been released in the UK as yet. Sept 5 2022 is when it arrives.

So can these ratings - which seem to be on the lower end of the scale - perhaps be redacted/removed on the basis that the people voting can't have seen the film as yet and so their ratings cannot be valid?  I also noted a rush of 1* reviews all in a few days a couple of weeks back ... suggests someone with their own agenda maybe trying to downgrade the overall rating?

Thank you ... but today (Fri 2 Sept) all those ratings are back on again?  Someone has reversed the change?

Where do you see this? On ratings page there are "US Users" and "Non-US Users". There is no "UK Users".

154 is under "Non-US Users", "Non-US Users" does not mean "UK Users".

Hmmm - it's the Non-US users which is suspicious ... the film has so far only been available on Showtime in the USA, and from 23 Aug on USA digital networks ...  I find it odd that over half the ratings are from Non-USA sources, and are also on the lower end of the spectrum ... I also noted a whole load of 1 star ratings appearing in the space of a couple of days ... which hints at some concerted effort to downgrade the film.

Also, on the reviews there's around 30-40 'people' who have consistently downrated all the good reviews, and uprated the average ones.

Maybe this is all just normal and happens for every film ...?

Hi @davidhowe -

I reviewed the current ratings on the title page and noted that the behavior doesn't appear to be overtly suspicious.

Our voting system detects and defeats attempts to stuff the ballot and skew the rating, as demonstrated by the difference between the weighted average and the arithmetic mean on the vast majority of titles in the database. Our voting system is continually improved in this respect so abuse is always automatically detected and thwarted. For more information I encourage you to review our Ratings FAQ.

I hope this helps!
